Stay-at-home moms, or anyone really, a question about moving and school
I need advice. We are moving to Toronto by the end of the year. Right now my DC are in daycare three days a week. When we move, we won't need daycare at all but I was thinking of putting them, or at least the oldest child, into pre-school.
In this situation, how many days would you send your child to pre-school for? I don't want to move and have them experience a complete upheaval, but I do think that they will need some type of preparation for school (just my personal opinion)
My two thoughts are, sending DC 5 days a week but only part time, or sending them 3 days a week for a full day, or at least almost a full day.
What do you think?

How old is your DC ?
My DS went to school : 2x a week @ age 3 3x a week @ age 4
both 4 hours a day and I think for him it was perfect

Check with the area you are moving to - Toronto schools start at a different age and I believe the have a preK program as well.

I just looked, thank you! It seems that there is Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten. Junior starts at age 4 (child must be turning 4 by December 31) and Senior is age 5 (child must be turning 5 by Dec 31).
I will look into the preschool programs as well and see what they offer.
Bops, thank you for the information. I am not comfortable right now posting any details, we are trying to keep this information as private as possible until it's a reality, but thank you!

some children start JK at the age of 3 here depending on when their birthday is...my friends son is starting this sept. he will be 3 since his bday is in dec. DD will be starting 2012 and she will be 4 since her bday is the beg. of Jan. they were born 2 weeks apart but will be a year apart at school. we dont have a lot of pre-schools like in the states. when is your DC birthday? and how old will they be when you move?
Edited because my months were waaaaaaaaaaaaay off!
