Staying home after the baby?
I was just wondering if anyone else planned on staying home after they have their LO? I didn't think I'd have so much anxiety about it (along with anxiety about everything else), but I'm having a ton.

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I am staying home once the baby is born. Of course, I haven't worked since I moved out of NY last year so this isn't really new for me... only now there's a good reason!!!
I feel super guilty about not making any money, but childcare costs so much that once the baby is here, it would be absolutely silly for me to suddenly START working and have to pay for someone else to watch our child. Thankfully, we are doing ok (it helps to not be in NY, I have to say) so we can afford it for now.
I'm super excited about being a SAHM. I never in my wildest dreams growing up thought this could happen for me! I was raised by baby sitters and nannies (which was fine, but not ideal) so this is going to be incredibly wonderful!

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I'm in a similar situation I've been in school forever (just finished my masters working towards a Ph.D) and therefore haven't had an income in several years. We've actually always been a one income family. I was working when he was in medical school and went to school after he started residency. I had been debating for awhile if I wanted to continue on for my Ph.D and right now I've put it on hold. It was a hard choice and I'm not sure I can do it without regrets, but it was the best decision for us at the given time. I'm hoping that after the baby comes I become more comfortable with my decision. I never imagined being a SAHM and have little support from my family and friends (besides DH) which makes it so much harder.

I'm going to stay out the rest of the school year (Im due early April) and then I have the entire summer -- I'll go back in September but I'm only part-time so it should be ok.

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I'm going to be home for several months. I'll go back (at the earliest) next September. I'm not anxious about it, but I'm lucky to have lots of people to ask my 123982764 new-mommy questions.

I will be home with the baby...technically I work from home and will continue to do so...but my primary focus will be a SAHM. I am just so excited!

I am. DH and I are lucky enough that we will be able to have me stay home until the kiddies are in school.

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I wish I could be an SAHM. Although DH in passing the other day mentioned that childcare might just be close to what my salary is....so suddenly there may just be an option...but our insurance is through my job, so at the very least I will finish out next year and consider it for 2012.

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I plan to stay home with the baby. I thought of working part time, but I just don't think it would be worth it in my situation. My plan right now for money is to babysit other children - put an add in the paper or something for infants (I have my degree in Early Childhood) and that'll at least help bring in a little

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I will just be out for 12 weeks...luckily my mom and IL's can watch our DD when we go to work...our goal is to get out of our apt and buy our first house which we have been saving for for a few years and we both need to work to make that happen. It's going to be tough but what can we do! hope we win the lotto one day!!!

Re: Staying home after the baby?
We are living off of one salary right now, so I think it would be the logical next step to be a SAHM.
Eventually I want to work part time, I think for sanity.

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I stayed home after my first was born, still am a SAHM. And with twins on the way I will definitely remain at home. We wouldn't be able to afford daycare x3!

Re: Staying home after the baby?
I took a leave of absence from my job when I had my first baby. I was off with her for 9 1/2 months. I went back to work and things didn't work out and I left after 2 1/2 months. I will continue to be a SAHM with this baby too. I absolutely want to work again, but not until they are both in school
