Steakhouses - Mortons or Ruth Chris'?
This weekend is DH's bday and I would like to take him to a good steakhouse. Since we're no longer in NY, I can't take him to Jimmy Hays so I'm looking for opinions on Mortons and Ruth Chris. Also - any idea of prices - I have a basic idea, but doesn't say on their sites and wanted an idea.
Thanks!

Hands down Ruth Chris.
I have never actually been to Mortons so I don't have an opinion and am biased to Ruth Chris.

Kell - is Ruth Chris similar prices to Hays?
Also - I know it's a chain, but it's not "chainy" - right?

We've been to Mortons and loved it. Never been to Ruth Chris so I can't compare but I don't have one complaint about Mortons. Be prepared to spend $$$. Our bill was $200 without any drinks.

Ruth's Chris is better than Hay's with the exception that Hay's has a bit of a plumper menu other than steak... BUT if you are going to RC, why the hell else would you want anything else. The steak was delish and it comes out on a warming plate.

Re: Steakhouses - Mortons or Ruth Chris'?
i haven't been to mortons but i've been to ruth chris twice and loved it
pricing - the first time i went with just FH and the total bill was $100 (before tip) this was for two steaks, a shared side, and a cheaper bottle of wine
the second time i went was with my boss and the total bill was $180. this was for two steaks, two sides, an appetizer, and a more expensive bottle of wine
i think the filets are around $35 (petite) to $45 (larger)
have fun!!

Re: Steakhouses - Mortons or Ruth Chris'?
We have been to both and found Morton's to be extremely overrated. On top of that, the room was sooo cold that I could not even enjoy my food, it was like a meat locker. I would never go back.
Ruth Chris however, I really like and would say go there, no doubt! I love their Watermelon flavored Martini called Remedy Martini, something like that. TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!!!!! I get it every time.

I have been to both and would pick Ruth's Chris hands down. The food is delicious and I liked the atmosphere tons better (presuming that Morton's are decorated in a similar fashion).

We're trying The Capital Grille for our anniversary this year. Our friends really liked it. They have locations in Florida, not sure if any are near you.

Morton's, without a doubt. We've gone to dinner and had parties there and everyone loves it! It's pretty pricey though...dinner will probably over $200 for 2 people.

never been to Mortons, but loved Ruth's Chris. We got the steak for 2, a couple of sides, maybe a couple of beers.. i dont think we got any appetizers (it was a few years ago though- i dont rememeber)... but i think it came out to about $150 with tip
(i think the steak was around $60 give or take a few $).

Re: Steakhouses - Mortons or Ruth Chris'?
I have never been to Ruth Chris, but I have been to Mortons. DH went there for his bachelor party and loved it so we went there for our 1st anniversary. I thought it was terrible! My steak didn't taste good, I wasn't impressed with the sides or dessert.
I am dying to try Ruth Chris, I would stick with that.
Both are chains by the way.

Ruth Chris , but when they say the plate is hot believe them. I burnt my hand on the plate and my friend started reciting the bathtub scene from Rain Main. The steak melts in your mouth, yummmmmmy.
