Steel Cut Oatmeal Question

I just bought steel cut oatmeal and I noticed it said it takes 30 minutes to cook. Can I make it ahead of time and reheat it? I usually microwave my plain Quaker Oats in the morning and there's no way I'll be able to find 30 minutes to make oatmeal every day! Also, do you make it with milk or water? I always made my regular oatmeal with a handful of berries, skim milk, and a little splenda. I don't know about this one. Thanks in advance!

Sure you can make it ahead. When it sits overnight, it will absorb more liquid so when you reheat, you might just add a splash of water/milk so it isn't too dry.

No idea about the milk/water but I would assume so.

Re: Steel Cut Oatmeal Question

I make it with water, actaully more recipe than the instructions call for, because I found that towards the end of cooking it would get dry or start sticking to the pot. I have reheated it too, just add a little water before hand!

Re: Steel Cut Oatmeal Question

I make it with water in the crock pot, split it up into individual servings and then microwave.

I add fruit before microwaving.
