steroid question-DH and I are in a heated debate!

My DH and I are at odds over the steroids given to mature the baby's lungs. I was given 2 rounds of steroids at 32 weeks to mature lungs. We thought we were going to need an emergency section. Luckily we avoided that.
However, my DH insists the steroids also make the baby grow faster. I was under the impression that they only mature the lungs and a few other organs but has nothing to do with the size of the baby. Does anyone know who is right?
Also..how does it work? One round matures the lungs by a week after 48 hours or 2 rounds matures the lungs after 48 hours?

Ok I broke out the nursing books to give you the correct answers because I know the importance in being right when you are in a debate with DH

To answer your question about how the steroid injections work and I quote:
"Neonatal benefits from a complete course of corticosteroids are apparent, starting at 24hours and lasting up to 7 days after treatment".

Now as far as the steroids making a baby grow bigger I cannot find any evidence proving or disproving this theory but I can tell you as a Labor & Delivery nurse who deals with high risk pregnancies all the time that I have never heard of this theory and therefore believe your DH is mistaken.

When I got them I was told it was to mature the babies' lungs, and had nothing to do with adding extra weight/
