Still bothered by comment yesterday
We were at the park with DD and her 2 friends, both of their moms are 7 and 8 months pg. Practiaclly everyone I know is pg with #2 anyway, there was another mom there who knew one of my friends. She had 2 kids and I had never met her before. So she says to me: "So are you not ready for another one yet?' Nice. Thanks I should have said: "Oh I am we are dying for another baby and we have been trying for a year but thanks." I am a wimp though. I just said "I'm taking the time to enjoy the one I have." Which is true I do enjoy her every second but WHY do people open their big mouths about things they know nothing about???!!!!

Re: Still bothered by comment yesterday
I get this almost everday and it really breaks my heart when they do this. I wish people would think a little more before they talk. If someone has an older toddler and isn't pregnant or doesn't have a baby, perhaps it should dawn on them that it's not by choice but because they are having difficulties.
I'm about thise <...> close to dumping the total truth on the next person who bothers to ask why I'm not ready for the next one yet. I'm pretty sure they'll never ask another soul after that

Re: Still bothered by comment yesterday
I'm so sorry. I really think people say stuff like that because they don't know what else to say when meeting someone. And it was probably something to say for her (instead of getting to know you). Its a fluff comment. Though she should just shut up. I'm sorry that you keep getting this. Just say you are thinking about it. Which is true. Maybe that is why I have been staying away from meeting new people.

if you feel comfortable I would just say-actually we've been trying and having trouble. Its so hard when people ask about it you know? That should make her think twice-Think of it as a public service

Because 80% of the population doesn't have to even imagine what infertility is. Sadly, we are in the minority and most people have no idea what it's like to have difficulty getting PG.

And you know what...one day you will get your BFP and you will have another child. Then they will ask you if you are having a 3rd. People are stupid (present company on this board excluded of course).

Re: Still bothered by comment yesterday
I agree with the public service comment. People are ignorant.
If someone hits me with the question on a bad day, I actually enjoy nicely making sure they never ask again.

Re: Still bothered by comment yesterday
I know exactly how you feel. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped or picked my son up from preschool, or been at the park and been asked "Oh, is he your only one?" like there's something bizarre about it. I'd love to say, Not by choice. Or, hey, I've had 2 ectopics, almost died, and had my tubes pulled out for trying. Would love to see the face of the person asking that question then.
But, I just swallow it and say Yes with a big smile. People just don't think.

Re: Still bothered by comment yesterday
I am so sorry, I know all too well how much that sucks, and I used that line myself for a while.
I hope you never get to this point, but when your DC turns 5 people seem to stop asking, I guess then they assume there is a problem.
