Stomach bug and texture issues
My 3 yr old threw up this morning. He also has a low grad fever. The issue is he has sensory and texture issues. He gets anxiety with change of food. He seriously eats the same thing everyday. Plus. Only milk. Hates juice or water. I also give him pediasure, but usually water it down b.c he doesn't drink any water
Now he won't eat anything and said he only wants his shake, which is usually a little milk and pediasure watered down sometimes. Any advise?

Nope... I offered ice pops and he won't eat it. Only likes milky stuff like bday cake ice-cream and even that he's very particular with. Just doesn't care for any foods. Oatmeal, milk, crackers, pretzles, goldfish, some ice-cream, etc are about it. He gets anxiety. He doesn't even like t bday parties when they giv him pizza. I usually bring a yogurt for him. I may have to go get babyfood. We finally got him off it a little after 2, but gotta get him to have something. Maybe like an applesauce or something.

Re: Stomach bug and texture issues
when doing a feeding protocol with one of my students , his mom used to gently wake him in the middle of the night to give him pedialyte to make sure he was still staying hydrated. he wasn't awake enough to realize what he was drinking. i hope this passes soon for you

Re: Stomach bug and texture issues
My DS was the same at that age - will now sometimes drink juice. The ped suggested watered down gatorade because I was having trouble getting him to drink the pedialyte. When he really wouldn't drink, I would follow him around with the medicine dropper like every 10-15 minutes and squirt it in.
Will he eat applesauce? It has lots of water and may help keep him hydrated if he can keep it down.
Also, try to get him right back on everything he was eating before he got sick. I remain convinced that some of our major texture/eating problems started immediately after a bad stomach virus when DS started refusing foods he had eaten before he was throwing up.

Re: Stomach bug and texture issues
Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. The good news is it wasn't a stomach bug and he's ok. Back to drinking milk, but if it happens again ill definitely take all the suggestions. Thanks!
