Stomach Virus/Dyhdration? TMI
Gianna has a stomach virus. I have been giving her liquids, pedyalite as much as I could. She has not peed since last night...but massaive Diariah diaper...so I don't know if there was pee in it. When should I call the ped?

It could not hurt to call. I would check her diaper often just to see if there is pee-pee.

Because you're not sure or not if she has peed, as long as she's taking in fluids, I'd probably give it another day unless she goes lethargic.

One thing you can do to check if she has super absorbent diapers is to put a tissue in her diaper.

when we last saw the gastro - he had a student with him...so he was telling her step by step the things he was doing.
he said the number 1 way he knows if a child is dehydrated is by the skin elasticity. you 'pinch' the skin so that it is raised....if it drops back down IMMEDIATELY, there is no issue. try it on your skin now...pinch the skin - watch it rise & fall. it should be instant. if on DC it 'pauses' or seems to stay 'uppish' - then there might be a dehydration issue. (he did it to her belly skin)
he told the student that she may need to see a few 'not so normal' ones to understand the look of NOT normal...but Em was normal (thankfully).
i thought it was really interesting and so did Dave. we are 100% keeping this in our bag of tricks for the future.
