Re: Stomach Virus Question
Depends on which end.
If it's vomiting, until they aren't vomiting anymore (mainly because I can't stand cleaning up that smell).
If it's the diaherrea, I'd say as long as they are willing to drink/eat something and can hold it down, you can give it to them. If you're afraid that's upsetting their stomach, stick with pedialyte (assuming they're an infant).
Hope it's over soon!

Re: Stomach Virus Question
I started giving milk as soon as he could keep anything down, but watered down his bottle for another day or so (so for an 8 oz bottle, 2 oz. water, 6 oz. milk)

Re: Stomach Virus Question
When Rebecca had it Harrington was on call everytime I called. She said to water down her bottle and give in small increments. I did that for less than 24 hours after the last vomiting episode. Then, she said to give a bland diet for a few days. At that point, I gave regular bottles but no other dairy. I think I moved to quickly onto regular foods because she was good for over 48hours and then threw up again. I'm assuming Christopher got the dreaded thing! I hope he feels better soon!!

Re: Stomach Virus Question
It's vomit. Basically he would not eat anything for dinner last night so he had yogurt about 1 hr later he threw it up. He had just fallen so I thought he threw up cause he got scared. Then I gave him milk at 2:30am and about 1.5 hrs later he threw that up. Since then no throw up but he hasn't had any milk or yogurt.

Re: Stomach Virus Question
When we had the virus (the whole family had it), we avoided dairy for a few days. Milk just wasn't settling. I felt so bad but I had to hold off for a few days. A very bland diet, too.

Ack! Ok skip milk until he's holidind down food. Most importantly, keep him hydrated - so water, pedialyte!

Thanks. He finally just went to bed. He ate some puffs/cherrios, bananas and applesauce today. Hopefully I am in the clear to try watered down milk tomorrow.
