Stony Brook Medical Center
How is the maternity ward at Stony Brook Medical Center? I am considering having my baby there.

Beautiful! I chose my doctor for her affiliation with SB hospital. They have a new maternity ward with all private rooms with private bathrooms, and the food is excellent. They have the best NICU in the county.

From everything I hear it's great! If you are looking for a more natural birth it seems like this is definitely the place to be! :) I am going to call up later today to set up a tour.

I completely agree with this. My OB only delivers at SB. The new maternity ward is beautiful!
I can't wait to deliver there!

My cousin is an OBGYN and affiliated w/ Stonybrook - She said they just redid the entire place and it's ALL private rooms, beautiful private bathrooms, flat screen TVs etc .........
She said it's amazing........
(and her sister is a dietician @ the hospital and says the food is fabulous)

I delivered at Stony Brook in November, and it was great. The rooms were big, clean, new. The food was pretty good, too. The nurses were all great as well.

I am a nurse in the NICU there and it is beautiful down on post partum!!! private rooms, private bathrooms, flat screen tv, room service.. rooming in with your baby, you can't get any better than that!!

i have heard wondeful things about the new postpartum unit at stony brook.. my ob is only affiliated with stonybrook and i can't wait to have a private room and bathroom!!

I absolutely agree with you that they seem more open to natural birth. I had a wonderful natural birth and never had to fight hospital policy to get it.

i had a great experience there..and since i had dd in 07 they redid all the rooms, i cant wait to go there when the time comes for my next pregnancy.

Stonybrook is AMAZING! I had to have a few tests done and the nurse who was taking care of me ended up being a sweetheart and took me to see the room and look at the nursery.....
First the rooms are really luxorious looking for a hospital! I was so anxious about being able to be comfortable but I loved it...also I love the private room thing. The second awesome thing they have is WebNursery..You can give your family a personal code that only your baby will have and they can access the site and view current pics..and the nurse said 2-3 minute videos of them daily.....We have alot of ouut of town family like my grandparents and it makes it much easier for htem to see the babies once they come....the number is on their site for tours.....For us we chose between them and Saint Catherine's but decided on Stonybrook because of hte amazing neonatal unit.....having pre-term twins.....
