stonybrook moms...NEW QUESTION ADDED

has anyone dellievered there recently? i heard they redid the rooms. can you give me some info?

i delievered dd at st.charles and was going to go back but im in love with the idea of my OWN room

eta: any experieces good or bad are greatly appreciated. we swore we would never deliver there after the stories of od'ing babies and such but that could happen anywhere

NEW QUESTION: i had insane back labor and at st.charles they didnt allow me to walk around. Does stonybrook allow you to walk around until u feel the need to push?

Re: stonybrook moms...

I Loved it there!! Nurses both in L&D and on the maternity ward were so great! I loved having my own room, it didnt feel so tight when I had visitors. Also the bathroom is beautiful. I give them and A+ and highly reccomend having your baby. I was very lucky i was litteraly diagnol from the nursery so I would peek at her whenever I wantedChat Icon

The nursery was in the middle and all the patient rooms go around in it. I was 10 ft away from the nursery. I also like being able to have the baby with me in the room when my visitors were there so my family was able to hold her.Chat Icon

Re: stonybrook moms...

I delivered both DS's there...in '08 and then this past November.

The labor units haven't changed, but the post partum wing is VERY much improved. Very big private rooms and private bathrooms, large windows --mine overlooked the sound! It was great...

My only complaints were that the noise from one room carried directly into another, meaning I could hear every comment from my neighbor's visiting family during their visiting hours (but then I'm sure my neighbor heard my infant scream as he learned how to nurse Chat Icon ).
Bring socks with grippies/slippers because no matter how many times the custodial staff mopped the floor, it ALWAYS felt sticky/gross...my mom even asked the woman what she was mopping with - poor lady...Chat Icon

I used the midwives, and participated in the baby bonus program. This allowed us to keep DC with us the entire time of our stay -- they even bathed him in my recovery room -- it was great!!

Yes! What was up with the floors? Chat Icon

I agree with the walls, they were very thin, I heard the bab next door scream all night because his poor mommy was having trouble getting him to latch Chat Icon but I used a white noise app on my phone and was able to sleep very well!!
