Stopping work

I am a teacher and almost 33 weeks. I am so uncomfortable this pregnancy. A few weeks ago the baby was very high and I couldnt breathe well. Now she is very low and I still get short of breath, but I also have intermittent pelvic pain and cramping. When she was high my doctor said she wouldnt write me a note because it was normal pregnancy stuff. She did give me a note getting me out of additional activities like meetings after school and said I need to sit at work as much as possible. I had an emergency appointment this past week (while on vacation) where I was put on the monitor and told to take it easy. Question- did anyone get out of work with a note before their due date with only these type of symptoms? I am just so tired!

Re: Stopping work

I'm 34 weeks and a teacher also. I asked the dr. about what was reasonable in terms of continuing to work since I have an hour commute and I drive by myself. He said he would definitely write me a note a week or two before my due date. He kind of left it up to me. I'm definitely getting more uncomfortable and not sleeping regularly so it's getting harder. I figure if I take a sick day here and there it will help me make it through. If you really feel uncomfortable, I would talk to your dr. again and see what they say. GL

36 weeks here. I'm also a teacher and have been thinking about the same thing. I know that if I don't go into labor on my own in the next 2.5 weeks they are going to induce bc I have GD. I'm thinking of calling my dr and seeing when she will give me a note for work.

Re: Stopping work

I'm 33.5 weeks and also a teacher. My doctor has offered to write me a note to stop working but there is no actual reasoning behind it - medical that is. I think she just wants me to know I have an out if I feel too uncomfortable. I told her I rather wait as long as I can so that I don't have to go back and teach. I've basically altered the way I work and I really don't care what they say. I go between sitting and leaning for most of the day. I work in a private school so I am supposed to dress up all the time, but I've worn black sneakers to be comfortable. I will continue to do what I feel is necessary to keep me and my baby safe and happy. BTW - my plan is to work til I give birth - who knows what will really happen. Good LUck!
