Store brand chicken?
Do you buy it? Would you buy it? I have to buy a large family pack for a party & the store brand is so much cheaper but I'm a little weary

Re: Store brand chicken?
I just tried it this week - I bought a small pack of Stop & Shop's boneless chicken breasts - I am always weary about any meat, especially chicken - but it was VERY fresh and VERY good.

Re: Store brand chicken?
I buy it ALL THE TIME. Here's the main difference I noticed: when you buy a package of let's say Perdue Fit & Easy, the chicken breasts are all almost exactly the same size and perfectly trimmed, and each breast is just the right size for one person's portion. When you get the big family pack of the store brand, the sizes of the breast may differ... some are ginormous and some are little, and sometimes there's a little ridge of fat along the edge that you need to trim off yourself. Because of the size inconsistencies, I use these breasts for chicken dishes where the chicken is cut/sliced: stir fries, grilled chicken sliced and tossedo n salad or in wraps, chicken soups/stews, etc. Other than that, they're great.

Re: Store brand chicken?
I always buy the store brand chicken unless there is a really good sale on the name brand stuff. I agree sometimes the cutlets are huge and you have to portion them out a little better, but the giant ones usually cut perfectly into 2 servings, one for me and one for DH
Never had a problem with it!

Re: Store brand chicken?
Stop & Shop brand is REALLY good. I usually buy that.
I went to my local supermarket though and bought their chicken and it sucks though.

I must be the only one. I don't like S&S brand of chicken at all. I think it's White Diamond??? I found it to be fatty, have cartilage running through it as well as veins.
I do buy their Natural chicken...forget the name of it but it's by the organic meats.
