Stress
What does everyone do about stress. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. Work, home , etc is getting to me lately. My heart rate has been ridiculous and I always feel like I am about to freak out. I think it's time to speak to someone but I feel like that will only get me so far. I was thinking maybe meditation or something but I just don't even know where to begin.
I am open to all suggestions
Thanks!

Re: Stress
i feel similarly. I speak to a therapist once a week virtually. it helps but I agree its not a cure all.
distraction!! call a friend, go for a drive, work out, read, watch a film. anything to distract.
deep breathing when things get bad.
feel better

I swear by CBD. It's the only thing that gets me through many times.

I went on CeleXA before I was diagnosed with cancer - not sure how much it'll help now that I'm in remission but I hope some!
I also like to take walks - just to get outside and get some fresh air. I'm not big on exercise, but I know some people feel stress relief from exercise.

Re: Stress
I enjoy exercise. I don't have a ton of time, but even going on the treadmill and watch a mindless realty show to get your mind off things help. I also do youtube workouts and follow Heather Robertson. Her videos are usually about 30 mins and that's enough. Drink a lot of water too. I put lemon and cucumber in mine.
Taking a walk helps. I had to get out one night and in the cold it felt good. Just let yourself cry. My fav calm time is morning when everyone's asleep and I take out the dog around 6AM and the sky is so still. I just take the time to breathe in the air and watch the sun rise.
If you can just take a drive to get away. ASk for help. Tell your DH you need a moment or help.
Good luck

I honestly find cleaning therapeutic. And going thru things and throwing things out / donating. I went thru my closet and got rid of so much and I just felt a sense of calmness afterwards.

Re: Stress
Exercise helps me.
Also perspective - thinking about how much worse it could be.
Honestly though, I find that if someone's stress is really that bad they might need to make a major change in their life.
I know that is often not possible but it's something to keep in mind if it gets that bad.
I have two friends in the process of moving long distances and they are both so excited about their new lifestyles and the stress relief they will bring. I know when I changed schools years ago I felt much less stress.
Again, I know it's not practical for many. I'm just throwing it out there because it's on my mind anyway.
Some stressors are too big for exercise, meditation, and chocolate.

Re: Stress
Do you have a friend that you can start a walking routine with? I find that in addition to other forms of exercise, taking a walk most days with my friend helps alleviate a lot of stress. It gives us both a time to vent and it makes you realize we are all stressed out and overwhelmed.

Re: Stress
I totally understand.
I exercise a lot. I actually began running in the spring. I stopped when it got too cold because I'm a big baby in the cold but I plan on getting back into it again once it gets warmer.
I am going on a girls weekend this weekend. I need to get away from my house, my responsibilities, my kids. I just need a break.
If my anxiety gets really bad, I have been using a CBD cream and that helps too. I think it may just be more mental than anything but it calms me down.

Re: Stress
I'm like the only person in the world that gets MORE stressed out from exercise it seems. I hate it.
A glass of wine or a cocktail helps me a lot more!
Or a hot bath, some jazz music, playing a game on my phone, mindless TV and recently reading.
All good stress relievers for me.

Believe me I don’t love it at first. It’s when it’s over. I compare it to waxing. You procrastinate doing it, hate it during but happy you did it when it’s over. That’s also why I follow 30 min YouTube programs. I have no time for longer and like to get it over with in the morning before work and kids get o zoom. Then I reward myself with a cup of coffee and start my day. Yes, a good cocktail always helps too and hanging out with my girlfriends or talking to them. Best thing to do is let your DH know so he can help. When I get overwhelmed he steps in.

Exercise - walking, running, cycling, swimming, hiking, lifting. Anything outdoors.
I’ll run in pretty much any weather (below zero, snow, rain, heat). I can not wait for this weather to change. I LOVE everything SUMMER.

Unfortunately- Eat. Last March my office closed for a couple of weeks and I would take a really brisk walk mid day and it worked wonders for stress. Then they brought us back in to the office as of April and I've gained about 15 pounds bc I have to be in the office all day and I eat when I'm stressed. I wish we could still work from home!

Stress
I am prone to anxiety and the past year has only made it worse. For me exercise is very helpful. I also use a meditation app - start with a few minutes a day. I do about 10 minutes right when I wake up and it starts me down a better path for the day. I also find mindless games on my phone help when I am really at a breaking point - I set a timer for whatever time I have and zone out. Reading is something I love but I find when I am very anxious I can't focus on reading.

Re: Stress
I got a new mattress after fifteen years and that has helped my back and shoulders immensely, it was such a source of pain for me and now I don’t feel like I am in pain when I wake up.
I use face masks, moisturizing foot booties, and we redid our master bath with a jacuzzi tub. I use relaxing bath salts and the jets to make me feel happy.
I also try to connect with friends on the phone or text daily. Speaking with people who you like really helps.

Honestly those closest to me have been irritating the shit out of me recently. I have stopped talking to a lot of people recently and I am ready to just move out of my house. There are some days I just can't take listening to my husband talk and he hasn't even done anything wrong.

Re: Stress
I agree with exercising. I don't like it, but really feel the benefits of it because my mind is gone from all the problems and I feel I release bad energy. But I need to put a time for it to be disciplined. If I don't do it in the morning, then I don't do it at all. And if I don't work out then I eat worse... so it has like a domino effect on me.
Also I started having 20 minutes to do something "deep" for me, also in the mornings. It can be meditating, praying, breathing... but also I have found very helpful when I dedicate time to have grateful thoughts. I had left that practice for a while, and I was feeling pretty down.

Oh no, hugs. Then I would seriously lock the bathroom door and spend twenty minutes in the tub with a face mask, soak, and close my eyes. Then get weights and resistance bands and exercise. Sit ups, push ups, etc.
