Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
Sorry to but...
Can you please tell me how many strollers you have/registered for and car seats?
WHICH ones?
What kinds do we need?
What different baby ages need different ones?
I am having SUCH a hard time wrapping my head around this! It's one of the only things missing from our registry!!
TIA!!!

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
We registered for travel system (Graco) and a cheap umbrella stroller, a snap and go and a conv car seat.
I have never opened my travel system stroller (and dd is 15 months). When dd was in the carrier, we used the snap and go (BEST GIFT EVER) and then when she went into a convertible car seat we had gotten a separate umbrella stroller other than the one we registered for. We still use that one.
as a BTDT mom, don't register for the travel system unless you intend on using the stroller.

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
We registered for the Safety 1st Eurostar Travel System Stroller (Lexi).
Once the baby is too big for that car seat we plan on buying one at that time, but that's what we plan on using for the time being. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
For the beginning you need either an infant carrier (for ease) or a convertible seat (you can use @ 5 pounds, but most people wait until baby grows out of carrier )
I used the travel system for my first, but loved the snap and go for my second and will use it for third. But you can only use it with the carrier, so you need something for when they grow out of the carrier. I left my travel sys stroller at my parents.
An umbrella stroller is great when they get older. It's slim and takes up little room in the car. There is a big range in prices for this though.
Of course people also get the bells and whistles strollers too. Joggers...fancy...etc. Those are personal choices

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
We registered for the uppa baby vista and the BOB jogger. Both have a piece that you can purchase that snaps on so that you can just attach the infant seat to it. The uppa baby also comes with a bassinet and a toddler seat.

Reading Baby Bargains really helped me. They basically said..if you live in NYC or a place where your strolled is your main vechile then the Uppa baby is for you.
If you live in Suburban area (I live in Queens but a suburban part--mostly drive except for a recreational walk) a snap n go system and another stroller (such as city mini/maclaren) is your best bet.
I think we will go this route. Not 100% yet.

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
Wish DS I registered (and received) the Graco Quattro Tour which was a travel system (infant carrier and stroller). Wish I thought about it a little more and read into it. I never realized the stroller was 27 pounds! Talk about a heavy PITA stroller.
I used the Snap N Go with the infant carrier as long as possible. Then after a few uses of the stroller I realized I hated it and wanted something smaller. So once DS was out of the infant carrier (8 months or so) and in the convertible car seat I went and bought the Peg Perego Aria.
It's a lightweight stroller (7lbs), has snack tray and cupholder for DC, and a parent cupholder. It reclines and maneuvers relatively well.
However, was very happy with the Graco infant carrier. Used it until he was around 8 months then put him rear facing in the convertible car seat (we have Britax Roundabout).
Check out the Baby bargains book. Super helpful!

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
I registered for the Chicco Cortina travel system. One, the Chicco Keyfit infant carrier has great reviews and was really light. A light carrier was really important to me because I have back issues and can’t really lift anything too heavy. The stroller folds up with one hand and isn’t crazy heavy.
We also registered for 2 convertible car seats for after the baby outgrows the infant carrier. We registered for the Safety 1st Air Protect 65 convertible seat. My DH actually picked it out. I wanted to go with a Britax, but they are so pricey, especially when you need two of them. The seats we chose got good reviews in Baby Bargains, with the only complaint being it’s a larger seat. I think that’s ok for us since we have large vehicles. And I like that the harness doesn’t need to be rethreaded when you change the height of it.
If we find we need a more lightweight stroller down the line, we will end up with either the City Mini (my original choice for a stroller) or one of the other lighter weight options.

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
We registered for a Graco Snugride 30 to use when she's little and 2 Convertible carseats to use when she grows out of the snugride. I think we picked a Britax and an Evenflo, but it doesn't really matter since if they are purchased from the registry we will probably return them and buy again at a later date, since I have heard they are only 'good' for 5 years.
We registered for a City Mini stroller and the car seat attachment for a 'lightweight' type stroller, even though it's not the lightest we loved all the features.
We also purchased a City Select with the bassinet and car seat attachment for long walks/days out.

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
One car seat - Graco snugride plus an extra base for the other car
One stroller - the frame that you snap the Snugride into.
A stroller for when they are older is a waste, imo. They won't be in it for a long time, and by then a better and safer one will be out.
And you DEF shouldn't register for any car set other than the first one. There will DEF be new and improved ones by the time your lo gets to the next one.

Re: Stroller/Travel System/Car Seat Questions
We went with the Graco Snugride with and the Bugaboo Cameleon with the graco adapter. We live in the city and do most of our getting around by walking, so this was a big factor for us. We might get a lightweight stroller at some point for the car, but not right away.

this is what i did as well. i have absolutely no desire for a large heavy travel system.

Thank you! We live in NYC and will either stay in the city or move to Queens, but even then would only use a car occasionally. Baby Bargains reaffirmed our decision to get the Uppababy and we are trying to decide what else we need...

I agree 100%. I live in Queens too but a less suburban area (i.e. we have a car but I don't ever drive it b/c i walk and take the subway everywhere). on weekends we only drive if we are going out to LI. My current plan is to get the uppababy and possibly the city mini with the carseat adaptor as my lightweight stroller instead of the snap and go, which I think is flimsy for the streets around the area.
I agree with another poster that it's a waste to get an umbrella stroller until they are older.

Which Graco carrier did you get? I know I want the Snugride, but I cant figure out if I want the regular one or the 30 one. I definitely dont want 35.
