what would you think if your student teacher was pregnant? my husbands cousin will be student teaching in septemeber and we just found out today they are going to start ttc within the next 3 months i know its a personal decision but i just wanted to get a teachers opinion on this.....what if shes 9 months preg when shes student teaching. I also will be student teaching in sept...we just had a miscarriage and i told DH we are NOT ttc again till after. i want to finish school first.

Re: student teachers....
i would congratulate her and wish her the best!
she may want to delay it if she'll be 9 months for her own reasons but there's no reason she couldn't do it.
i personally would never put my life on hold because of my job.

Re: student teachers....
I've been putting having a baby on hold until I got a tenured position on LI & its 5 years later and still no permanent position. I'm not going to put off having a baby for a job anymore. I don't think theres anything wrong with being pregnant while student teaching. It could take a long time to conceive.

Re: student teachers....
thank you for your opinions..the whole situation is weird thats why i ...i think its more everyone else is having a baby so she wants one now rather than for really wanting one.
When we found out we were pregnant i was going to wait to go back to school but now that we had a MC i decided to wait to try....i really want to try now but i was also afraid of being pregnant while student teaching...i wasnt sure if it would be a bad thing since alot of people say that your student teaching experince has a big effect on getting a job. Now you girls are making me think we should ttc again and not wait. Like you said i told DH i didnt want to but my life on hold for teaching espically knowing that i am going to be a SAHM mom for the next few years.

Re: student teachers....
We had a student teacher in the building that as pregnant and it really wasn't a big deal at all. She came in and did her job and actually had the baby a week after he placement ended. It worked out perfectly for her!

Re: student teachers....
I dont see the big deal at all !
I started my masters when my first was 3months old, and finished my masters when I was 7m preggo with my 3rd. the babies came, my masters was done, and so was my student teaching.
I would never put something like that on hold for a job. a job will be there when it's your time to have that job.
I def wouldnt wait, but thats my personal opinion on the subject. do what's best for you.
I was preggo while I was subbing, I was even asked to take a leave replacement right after I gave birth, but I didnt have the right credentials.
if your personality shines through, and people like you, you will be remembered when the time comes, regardless of if you were preggo or not.

i don't see the big deal as long as she can do her job. you never know how the end of your pregnancy will treat you.
