Students in Trouble after Classmate Slapped for 'Hit a Jew' Day
6th graders... what is this world coming to?
"KSDK -- Some students face possible disciplinary action, including possible suspension, following a school prank that ended with one child being slapped in the face.
It happened Monday at Parkway West Middle School. Some kids called it 'Hit a Jew' Day. At least three children were hit during the incident, all of whom were Jewish. Two were tapped on the shoulder or arm, but one child was slapped in the face."

first of all, that is DISGUSTING
secondly, kids say and do what they see (for the most part)
In NYC, according to the school discipline code it would be considered a hate crime
terrible

How does a 6th grader comes up with something like that?
This is disturbing on some many levels.
I hope they get kicked out of school and go to a detention house for a couple of nights.

so sad....
sp people hate people who are different becuase they wierdly think they're a thread to their own lifestyles and cultures.... but I never understood that logic...
it's so sad yet predictable that kids of bigots end up attacking other kids

Incredibly disturbing and sad... but as I said before, I'm not suprised. I predict these kind of things, and hate crimes, will rise as the economic crisis worsens - this is a pattern we've seen throughout history.
As for anti-semiticism, I read a really interesting article in the Jewish Exponent predicting, specifically, a rise in anti-semitism from the economic crisis, as many of the people who ran these financial institutions were jewish. The article referenced a SNL skit alluding to just that, but unfortunately I never saw that one...
