Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I love this show. I heard a little while back that it was renewed for next season, after they initially planned to shelve it. It's so well-written (which is so rare these days). I'd hate to see it go.

I love this show. It's so well written. They are putting The Black Donnellys in its place next week, but I'm hoping that's only a temporary hiatus.

This was onthe Insider Online
End of the Road for 'Studio 60'?
"Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" has officially been dropped from the NBC schedule and will air its last episode tonight, before going on hiatus.
The series, from "The West Wing" creator AARON SORKIN and THOMAS SCHLAMME featured the talents of TV vets such as MATTHEW PERRY, BRADLEY WHITFORD and STEVEN WEBER. The series was loosely based on Sorkin's experiences as a TV writer/producer and was one of the most talked-about new shows of the fall season.
Despite a strong lead-in from "Heroes," ratings continued to decline, eventually leading NBC to announce the show would be put on hiatus. Tonight's episode is the last scheduled airing for the series.
The network will debut "The Black Donnellys" in the "Studio 60" ten o'clock time slot starting next week.

Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Oh no!! I didn't watch last night's episode yet! I can't believe it! You know, once something witty comes along John Q. Public just doesn't get it and then it's gone. So sad, what a shame.

i don't understand what makes some shows work and others not. Its such a well-written show with great acting. Sad that a show like that can't make it but deal or no deal is on every day

well i personally think that it won't make it because its on at 10pm. In order to make a 10pm show work, you need to start it out earlier, say at 8 or 9 and then move it to 10 after you have some followers first.

You think? ER is on at 10, Medium is on at 10, these are shows that do well and I don't remember them being on at different times.

Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I think it was more the fact that the first couple of episodes were on the dry side; it wasn't until the characters were more developed that you were really into it.
And of course, as a 'gotta have it now' society, people can't give shows 2 or 3 weeks to click. I think many people bailed after the first episode.

Okay but when ER first came on... it was a completely new concept for television. It was the first tv show of its kind really. And Medium... well, that fascinates people right now.
But sunset 60... it doesn't really draw people in immediately (like me) because what's it about... filming a tv show? Well that's not too interesting!
Thats what i thought when it came out. It wasn't until i saw some of the previews with the whole romance storylines that i actually checked it out. Before that... i had no idea what the show was, nor was i interested. Does that make sense?

I was just saying this to DH over the weekend...it took a few weeks for the show to get its legs. I think this is a fabulous show and I am a little sad to see it is cancelled already.
I don't really know how new shows are going to make it if the networks aren't going to give them a shot to build an audience.

I love this show.... 10 personally is a little late for me and especially since I don't watch Heros.. I would just rather tape it.

Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I tried to watch Studio 60. I wanted so badly to like it. Couldn't do it. I find it preachy and uninteresting. I hope it gets canceled. Now back to my West Wing box set.

Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I think the 10:00 slot might hurt it. Medium actually used to have Heros time slot and was moved to another night at 10:00. If I hadn't already been watching it, I don't know if I would have started.
I tried to watch Studio 60 too, but the combo of Matthew Perry and Steven Weber in one show just didn't do it for me.

Re: Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I really enjoyed the first few episodes and even sent an e-mail to NBC to try to save it. However, for the past few weeks, I've been fast forwarding through every Jordan and Danny scene and every scene of Harriet filming her movie. It wasn't leaving me with much.
I'll stick it out for the rest of the season.
