"stuff" in the crib- what age?
At what age did you put anything in the crib with DC? (not including mobiles or anything that's attached to the side).
I've always just assumed NOTHING in the crib for the obvious SIDS risk, but i notice alot of people won't let DC have a blanket in the crib, but will leave some toys, stuffed animals, etc.
Just curious what age you let them keep stuff in the crib with them? DD got a couple of glow worms for christmas and i was surprised when SIL (who is generally very conservative in that sense, and has 4 kids of her own) said it was great to put in the crib with them for when they're falling asleep.
(Also putting aside that i she already puts herself to sleep without any assistance, so i dont want to start forming any habits... this is just my long way of asking a short question )

DS has a blanket, a glowworm, etc. he falls asleep unassisted too, but he entertains himself with the toys when he wakes up. it's adorable!

Re: "stuff" in the crib- what age?
birth?
Her crib was CLUTTERED with toys... little plush ones, rattles, rings, finger puppets, soft books, etc
I even had a her wipe warmer and a tin that carried all her diapers and cremes in there with her.
Once she started to roll we took stuff out. She did this VERY late. Say about 8mo or so? When she could crawl we reduced it even more.
Now she's walking and she has folded blankets as a pillow, a teddy bear, a soft doll, and still her soft book. She also sleeps on two blankets laid on top of her crib sheet and uses one more to cover up with and also sleeps with a towel (those thin ones that everyone gives ppl when a baby is born - with a hoodie) she likes to rub under her chin with it.

Re: "stuff" in the crib- what age?
My DD has her little "blankie" in the crib from about 6 months old along with breathable bumpers. Once she turned about 10-11 months I wasn't so concerned anymore about what was in her crib since she was able to move all over, roll around, sit up, etc. So now she has her regular bumpers in because she loves to sleep wedged up in the corner of her crib and kept smooshing her face and bumping her head, she has her favorite stuffed animal, her "blankie", and like 3 blankets we use to tuck her in at night. She is 15 months old now and no problems.......if anything, it gives her something to play with in there when she wakes up.

Re: "stuff" in the crib- what age?
We had nothing in DS's crib for about 18 months. Since then, I have covered him with a crocheted blanket with a lot of holes. I also have a couple of baby stuffed animals and the opposite end as his head, but he rarely even touches them.
... I shouldn't say "nothing" because starting around 8 months I put a couple of board books in the corner of his crib and he would entertain himself with them when he woke up in the morning.
I was concerned about SIDS, so I was nervous about blankets and stuffed animals.

See, at that age (and even a bit younger than that), i can def see leaving toys in there for them to entertain themselves with... but i guess i was really surprised at it for DD's age (4.5 months). I didnt even think people considered it for less than 6 months, but maybe i have issues I dont even like if DH leaves a receiving blanket hanging over the far end while he's changing her- i get OCD and have to move it right away.

ITA with you!! I wouldn't leave anything in the crib at 4.5 months old...........I was too paranoid!! 6 months old I gave her the little "blankie" but not until she was almost 11 months old did I give her anything else. I was scared about SIDS too!

Nothing at all. I feel stuffed animals can cover the face just as blankets can. I dont know what age I will believe is ok, waiting to see.

I put in a couple of stuffed animals and one of the soft books when they were around 8 months. It keeps them entertained for a little while when they wake up in the morning.

Re: "stuff" in the crib- what age?
since day 1.
We have had stuffed animals and a blanket in his crib since he was born. He was swaddled until 4 months and after that, he was never one to move around his crib. Not until around 10 months i think did he start moving all around.
But he never used a blanket. Hates them. Kicks them off. Now he uses it as a pillow sometimes.
