Stupid question for those with video monitors and two kids...

I know I can get a 2nd camera for when DC #2 comes along this summer, but I have a stupid question.

If the camera is switched onto one room but not the other, and the child that the camera is not switched to, cries. Does the audio for that childs room still come through even though the picture is switched onto the other one?

Or do you have a regular audio only monitor in one room along with the camera?

Re: Stupid question for those with video monitors and two kids...

This confused me when I was thinking about what to do with 2 kids. I didn't like not seeing each of them So, now I have a camera and monitor for each kid. My bedroom is LIT UP at night.

No, it's only the audio and video for the baby whose room the monitor is switched to.

Luckily, DS is an awesome sleeper, we only use the monitor to check on him occasionally, so it's almost always set to DDs room. If you think you need to hear DD at night, I would get a totally new camera and monitor for your DS. Chat Icon

I switch channels back and forth between channels. I keep it on the baby overnight. We have no issues.

Thanks everyone, that's what I thought.

Yeah, I think this is what I'm going to have to do.

She is a great sleeper, but does occassionaly cry out during the night, and I'd feel guility not hearing her and not being able to see if she's okay when she does. I'm also worried though she is going to regress or something when the new baby comes, out of a disruption to HER life!

Summer just came out with a new monitor that has a split screen for up to four rooms..and you get audio for both..it's great..my old one broke, so I just got this one so I wouldn't have to get another one when I would need it..it also already comes with 2 cameras too

Chat Icon I could have gotten a replacement from summer for my old one, but I had the rationale that we're going to have to get this one or another camera eventually so why not now...Chat Icon

I have two camera and two monitors. DH keeps one on his night table and I keep one on mine - we both leave the screen shot off at night and just the sound and then if one of them cries we just click the button and we can see them - but we don't have to have 2 bright screens on all night.

Chat Icon Hey, I was worried about the same thing - but Luca has adjusted beautifully, no sleep issues, and we are just down the hall, so if he cries we definitely hear him. Chat Icon It would be cheaper for you to get a new camera and a separate audio monitor, that's what I would do.

No..whatever you are viewing is what you are hearing as well. You won't get any output from the other camera.

We have two cameras...the old Summer one and the new digital one. The old one has two video cameras but we couldn't use them in each room because there was too much interference so we keep the extra in the playroom which I love! So...we got the digital one and having both works out. No interference and we can see and hear both of them..just on two separate monitors.

I have this one and have a question. I get the audio for both while the screen is displayed, when it flashes between rooms, but once it goes black, doesn't it stay on one camera? If it still switches, I don't know how to do it, or I just don't hear it.

Re: Stupid question for those with video monitors and two kids...

Okay i realize i'm posting under a very old post but since i did a search and this came up... i have a question.

for those that use 2 cameras and 1 monitor... what if you already have interference from your neighbor? Meaning i can see MCL916's son when i put it on channel B. So when we need to use B ourself, will it work or will we still see gavin on our screen??

anyone know?
