substitute teacher...

My friend had just applied for a bunch of sub positions...in the meantime she wants to put together a bunch of "plans" to have as backups to do in the class ( assuming she gets a job) can you post any good ideas? I am trying to help her out but i figured you guys would be a much better source. As a sub what materials should she always have? Do you have any fun lessons or time fillers you can share? She would be doing grades k-6

Any type of word puzzles that are educational but are fun.

Maybe even carry around trivia cards? As long as its a game- kids will totally buy into it
