Substitutes
I know this has probably been asked before but I can't find it. Does anyone know how much subs get paid in the different long island school districts? Preferably nassau. Thanks!

Re: Substitutes
I subbed and mostly it was between 90-110 per day. I believe NYC is 144 per day!

Re: Substitutes
The pay for subs varies and is based on the teachers' contract. In my district it is $125/day.

Re: Substitutes
I know you said Nassau but subs in NYC make a pretty penny.
Douglaston/Little Neck are close to the Nassau border. Just throwing that out there.

I live in Queens so I guess my best bet is NYC schools since it looks like they pay the most. Should I go straight to the school and ask to be put on a sub list? I've been teaching for 6 years in a Catholic School and I just need to get out!

you need to apply with nyc and get a file number first. not sure where you should start so I'd just go to your local public school and ask the payroll secretary for help. you will have to get jobs through Sub Central. that means you register with this program and they call you when a school needs a sub. it's not done at the school level anymore. however, you can refuse jobs and schools can put you on their priority list. so don't think you have to sub anywhere they send you. so the first time you sub at a school you like you can befriend the payroll secretary and ask to be called back.
