Suddenly taking 2 - 2 hour naps????

Okay DD is usually ALL over the house into everything - without any breaks. I'm lucky to get 2 30-45 min naps out of her - she had bad teething last week with a possible minor 1st cold - then a bad spasmodic croup last weekend. She had been wheezing on and off and a slight cough for a few days but otherwise has been a happy active baby. Has not had any fever at all the whole time. Her cough has completely disappeared today and so has the wheezing - but starting yesterday and today she has taken 2 - yes 2 -full 2 hour naps????? She also slept thru the night.

I mean she is going non stop between the naps, crawling and walking around and playing BUT the active part isn't new - Why is she suddenly sleeping more?

I've noticed that after Maddie goes through a milestone (crawling, standing, teething) she tends to sleeps loads for awhile.

Enjoy those long naps!!!Chat Icon

Not only is she sleeping for 2 hours but doing so NOT in my arms - I don't know what to do with myself - in 11 months she NEVER naps anywhere pretty much but IN my arms or her stroller if we are out, or her car seat.

Really? This was the first time she was sick in 11 months - but I can tell you it certainly didn't have her sleeping more WHILE she had it - she was laughing, playing and fighting me on all her naps before yesterdayChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Wow those are long naps - DD never stops for a minute so the 2 45 mins naps were hard - She DID have a growth spurt where she gained exactly to the ounce 1 full lbs this past month - she has only been gaining a few small ounces lately and grown more in length than in weight. Maybe she did another growth spurt lately but I don't think so.

If he sleeps 2hrs 45 min naps does he sleep well at night?

DD only sleeps 8-9 hours a night - unlike what it seems everyone else's child who seems to sleep 12 hours or more

Re: Suddenly taking 2 - 2 hour naps????

DS is 1 year old and lucky me - 2 2-hour naps are part of his regular routine.

My guess is that she is now more active and wears herself out. She could also be going through a growth spurt.
