Suffolk county civil service tests and criminal record
Does anyone know if one can take a Suffolk County civil service test with a misdemeanor on their record? Are there any restrictions?

So a conviction of a misdeanor prevents one from getting a county job?

I know the NYPD now allows you to join even with a misdemenor on your record.
True story.
They are that desperate for cops.
But I am sure here in Suffolk it's a whole other story!

Asking for someone who recently moved back here. Not looking for law enforcement, but basic clerk/clerical test, job.

Asking for someone who recently moved back here. Not looking for law enforcement, but basic clerk/clerical test, job.
All civil service exams are still for governmental positions, no matter how small, so there is going to be a mark against them to start. THEN they need to be picked off the civil service list for a position over everyone else on the list; so if they have a mark against them, they need damn near perfect marks to even be considered. That's why civil service can be hard to get a position in. My mom scored a 97 on a probation civil service exam and still lost her position (which she already had for over a year) to someone who got a 99.
