Re: Suffolk girls (and boys)
is it like Smithtown is the part thats more north, and happauge is just south of it?

Re: Suffolk girls (and boys)
where you actually end up is hauppauge, if you continue on 347, you will hit smithtown (once you pass the friendly's on Mt. Pleasant, I believe).

nah, im not looking to go anywhere in particular... just started looking at areas in western suffolk. still not sure if we want to move there (i LOVE the whole st james/ stony brook/ port jeff area- probably b/c we both went to college there)... but we're so spoiled with our commutes, and everything (work, school, etc...) is in Nassau... so if we did go to suffolk, thats probably as far east as we'd go (the end of the northern state)

Re: Suffolk girls (and boys)
If you look at the map, when the NSP ends and becomes 347/454, it's Smithtown. Once you pass Old Willets Path, you're in Hauppauge. Whether you continue on 347, or go onto 454, you're still in Hauppauge. The Smithtown borderline is actually on the north side of 347.

Re: Suffolk girls (and boys)
ahaaa...
My FH works in Western Nassau, and it's an about an hour commute for him on the N. State. (And we're not exactly the end - we get on around exit 45.)
eta: exit 45 is the Sunken Meadow Parkway, to Kings Park.

Yuck!!!! i hate LI traffic!!! (we both have a 5 minute commute right now, so we're big babies about adopting a longer commute )

Re: Suffolk girls (and boys)
too bad you weren't looking a year ago - you coulda bought my old house
St. James is beautiful, but taxes are higher than in Smithtown/Hauppauge.

Im sure i could just knock on the door and let them know that there was a mix up, and the house was meant for me, Right?

Yes!!!!!
i do feel kind of awkward just showing up at their door though. Maybe ill just write them a note first... just so that they know (and have time to pack). I dont want them to think i'm 'weird' by just showing up- i'll give them a few days notice
