I have a poorly bred purebred who has problems constantly. I need a vet who is on a teaching level, updated on the latest technologies etc. Anyone know of one???

Re: Suffolk vet??
I recommend Dr. Star at St. James Animal Hospital. He is very knowledgeable, up to date and keeps current on cutting edge info, and he always, always squeezes has you come in the same day when you call with concerns. FM if you want more info.

Not sure if you know of a specialty hospital in Bohemia called Atlantic Coast Veterinary. I never knew of it and used to take my dog all the way to Westbury, not knowing this was located closer to me. They treated my dog and gave her extra time while she had heart disease. The doctor there is the only board certified cardiologist on LI, so that goes to show you. If you need more info, email me. I just lost my baby last month and the pain is still hard on me, but without this place, I would have lost her a long time ago.

Re: Suffolk vet??
We go to Dr. Rhein at Dix Hills animal hospital. DH's family has been using her, and before her, her father, for years. She is pricey but she helped my dog through terrible stomach problems. Also, she calms my dog down easily, and he is a feisty one!!!

We took Misty there when she ate the Gorilla Glue and not only did they save her when other vets said there was nothing they could do, but they were unbelievably nice and helpful. They would let us visit Misty at night and they walked us through every phase of her surgery. We actually asked if we could use them as a regular vet and they said no, they are a teaching, special needs and emergency vet only.
