sugar free diet

If you eat a low sugar diet, what do you eat? It seems that everything has sugar in it. For yogurt, how much sugar is okay? Even the plain has some in it. I'm not going to eliminate it 100%, but want to get as close as I can.

I would think you would stick to protein and vegetables. Grilled chicken, steak, fish. Along with salads, green beans, spinach, etc.

Re: sugar free diet

Well plain yogurt has no added sugar...I dont think anyway.

Maybe you can just try to eat things with out added sugar.

I did this, elimiated all sugar including fruit, and lost 33lbs when I was 16. I did it b/c I was sick (long story) and the Dr. wanted me to lose weight b/c he thought it would help....so they put me on a hypglycemic diet at first, then I just eliminated all sugar because I wasn't getting better and what did I know, I thought eliminating it all might help.

The first 2-4 weeks was VERY difficult and I remember just going nuts and walking a long way to 7-11 (it was before I drove) just for something sugary! But after that, it was very easy and believe it or not lots of unhealthy things just became unappetizing to me. It was really weird. But if you can do it for those first couple of weeks you'll be on to a really good start at weight loss!!! I am now back to eating it (I was after a year and a half) and I kept about 25lbs of it off, mostly because I learned a lot about how to eat better during that time)

eta: your body turns all foods into sugar (sugar = energy) so its not like your not getting it if you eliminate it
