Suggestions for a cake (1st Birthday)
In trying to come up with a theme I was thinking about the cake. (Because my mind is all over the place)
Can anyone recommend a backery that can do some intricate designs with fondant? If I find a pic for an example I'll post it - but hopefully someone knows what I am talking about (because I'm not making it too easy )
Here's an example:

Re: Suggestions for a cake (1st Birthday)
It might be a little bit of a hike, but Audrey's bakery in Sayville did my groom's cake for my rehersal dinner. DH is into fishing, and they did an amazing fish shaped cake with fondant that was amazing. I worked with Thomas and he was amazing.
Let me see if I can dig up a picture.
ETA: I found a pic. I also forgot to mention that I really didn't know what I wanted, but told him that DH mostly fishes for bass- and they did all of the research, so if you don't really know what you want, they will probably be able to help you!
The other place if you are looking for somewhere a little more local is A Taste of Home. They did DD's christening cake. They work with fondant also- but it was out of our budget for the christening. I'm attaching a picture of DD's christening cake for you too see their work as well!

Ang - my friend has a girl who does sick cakes. Let me see if I can find a picture for you. Supposedly, she can do any design you want.
I can't find the picture anywhere - sorry!

Re: Suggestions for a cake (1st Birthday)
well I know of this lady who makes these amazing cakes...she made a shoe cake for my friend's shower...it was unbelievable.
She is located in Queens but she took the cake out to Suffolk for the shower.
I think it was about 250 for the cake for 20 people. She did have another cake at the shower ...the shoe was sort of a decor.
fm if you want me to get her phone number from my friend

Re: Suggestions for a cake (1st Birthday)
Thanks everyone! I think I am going to give Audrey's a call (can't believe I didn't think of them). I don't mind the distance...they came through for me last minute on my RD cake when another bakery backed out...and it came out great!

We got our wedding cake from Audrey's - it was delicious.
Also, check out Dortoni's - they have a division that specializes in kids cakes.

I was going to say Audrey's also. My wedding cake was from their and it was so yummy and beautiful. (Plus it's the only place I know that does cakes )
I can't believe you're already thinking about this. You're so much more on top of this than I am.
