Suggestions needed...kids books (gifts)
Hi! I'm looking to buy some books for my niece, nephew, and a friends' kids for the holidays. Was wondering what books your kids or neices/nephews have loved.
Ages are: infant (6 mos) toddlers (2, 3, & 4 yrs) young girl (9 yrs)
the only books i know my niece (3 yr old) is absolutely in love with is the corduroy lift the flaps (LOVES them!). I was looking for some other suggestions to vary it up, ideally some at her level and a "titch" more challenging, but not too much so where she loses interest.
TIA!

i've gone to borders 2 or 3 times and found really great my little pony magnet books and disney books w/ tons of stories in them (some just princess and others any disney) They also had a great pirate pop up book--- all in their bargain section- my niece is 4 and my nephews are 3 and 1 so we've gotten tons of stuff for them there - hth!

For baby, my neice and nephew love Pat the Bunny. I got the Billy Joel book New York State of Mind for my 3 year old neice and nephew last year and they love it. It's the song lyrics with illustration of all the sites in NYC and it comes with a CD. They sing along and know all the words..it;s so cute!

Re: Suggestions needed...kids books (gifts)
those age groups LOVE books by Eric Carle
(Brown Bear, what do you see The Hungry Caterpillar The Grouchy Ladybug, and many more
The illustrations are great and the text is predictable. Many of Carle's books are also available with the cardboard pages, which are more developmentally appropriate for kids of those ages.

Just off the top of my head: The Velveteen Rabbit The Kissing Hand The Rainbow Fish (Marcus Pfister also has other picture books) The Long Nosed Pig The Wide Mouthed Frog The Napping House Some Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary books would be good for the 9 y.o. She might even like Johanna Hurwitz.
