Suggestions on how to give a 3 year old medicine

My DD used to take her medicine (whether it be antibotics, Motrin or Tylenol) with NO problem. Now suddenly she screams and screams. She has had 2 surgeries for ear tubes and after 4 short months they fell out AGAIN and she has an ear infection. So trying to get her take the Motrin for pain and the antibotics has been torture. She spits it out, gags on it, etc. (she does this with the motrin/tylenol too) I had it flavored at the pharmacy and I offer her a glass of water or juice to wash it down but its a fight. It takes me over an 1/2 hour to get her to take it and have to pray she doesn't spit it out.

Any advice? suggestions?

we are a nebulizer daily family.

if he doesn't cooperate, TV is off, no toys to be played with..it usually works

Do you have the syringe-type medicine dropper (obviously it doesn't have a needle ); I've had that before with some of DD's liquid medicines, and even if I have to kind of pin her arms down so she doesn't swat it away, I can get the corner of the little syringe in her mouth and just squirt it in, as opposed to trying to get her to drink from the little medicine cup.

If you ask at the pharmacy they should give you a free one from back there.

HOLD nose, hold mouth open, squirk in meds.
She needs to take a breathe, in goes meds.

All over in 30secs.

Yes I'm using the syringe, but she gags it up. I've tasted it, its really not that bad!! At least now she'll never ask for bubble gum

I have the same problem with DS, esp. with amoxil. The bubble gum taste makes it impossible to hide in anything and he gets 2 tsps, which is a lot!

Is it possible to try another antibiotic? My ped gave us something else for the last ear infection, but it was only 1 tsp and the pharm. flavored it strawberry so it was easy to hide in his juice.
