Re: summer dresses??

I feel like it's hit or miss every season and involves a lot of trying on.

I've done good in places like Marshalls and even Kmart of all places.

I went to ON last weekend and they didn't have much of a selection.

(I also tend to go towards maxis for summer).

What they did have either fit wonky or showed everything I'm trying to hide.

Re: summer dresses??

Not sure what your style is but I purchased about 10 casual dresses recently. Here are some.... I haven't received yet so can't comment on fit and quality.

Aeropostale Slip Dress

Aeropostale Print Dress

F21 Trapeze Dress - Both Colors

Belk - Trapeze Dress

Target Slip Dress

I like these as well...

Pac Sun - It looks really short but states that it is 35"

Tillys Print Dress - Seriously doubt that it is 37". Looks SUPER short.

Don't laugh but Joyce Leslie has some cute summer dresses. They have a boho section and many styles are knock-offs of Free People. Also try Nordstroms, ATL (although I haven't been impressed with their selection recently), Urban Outfiiters, Swell, American Eagle.

They make these cotton sports bras with thin straps. Walmart, Target places like that tend to have and they come in all kinds of colors. May even have lace. I wear stuff like that when I do spaghetti straps.

I don't like spaghetti straps either. I found a few at Kohls and Target that had the regular "tank top strap" type.

I tried these type on at kohls and none are long enough! They end right above my ankle. If I go up a size, I'm swimming in it and the length isn't much different. I think my boobs are taking up too much material on top with these types.

The spaghetti strapped ones seem longer but I never pull the trigger bc of the bra issue. Gonna try the sports bras. Cant believe i never thought of that!

Venus and Boston Proper. All online.

ha, talk about opposite types of stores! Chat Icon
Every time i get a Boston Proper catalog I can't believe the prices (really, $98 for a shirt?). I just can't bring myself to buy any of the things they have, even though they look really nice.
Venus on the other hand is hit or miss - yes they have tons of clothes and styles and definitely some fun stuff, but they can sometimes be really cheaply made.

Try VS catalog? Old Navy always has a ton of dresses too, as does NY&Co

Actually the styles are pretty similar - but the prices are not. And to be honest, while the quality of Boston Proper is better, it isn't THAT much better for the price.

And VS is no longer selling clothes- just bathing suits, underwear/lingerie and yoga type wear. No more dresses, pants etc

I used to LOVE their clothes.
It started going down hill lately, with selection, and then I found out why.
I think it's a bad move on their part to be honest.

Almost all the items that I posted above are no good (poor fit, too short, cheap material) but I recently found Shoptiques. They have a huge selection of summer dresses. I just bought 7. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I always thought the same thing. But, recently I discovered Walcol bras. For bigger sizes but, I have a smaller band size. They have a strapless one that really stays put, And offers support, I promise.

I like the dress but don't love. I ordered (online) and bought (in-store) several other summer dresses since receiving the order so I decided to return all the Aeropostale ones.
