Summer program recs
DS will not qualify for summer services, but it is important to me to keep him on a schedule and socialize during the summer. He will have finished Kindergarten. Any summer programs that are run by teachers, not teenagers?
South shore western Suffolk. Will travel a little in either direction.
Thanks.

Re: Summer program recs
Last year DS attended the summer program at Our Redeemer in Seaford.
I can't remember if it's 3 or 4 weeks (DS missed the first week I believe) and it's from 9AM-noon from what I recall.
It also was pretty affordable....a few hundred bucks.

Camp kehilla! It was a great camp for my special needs child. No complaints!

Hofstra does a Cub Camp for kids ages 4 - 6. I have been a counselor (I'm a teacher) in that program. It is run by 2 women, one who is a teacher's aide and the other is a teacher. A few of the counselors are teachers, but others are aged 17 - 20s (all of whom are excellent with the kids). Their day would be: morning play/meeting, outside play (usually an organized game), swim, lunch, outdoor activity or free play (depending on the day). The camp runs in three two-week sessions, so your child can go for 2, 4, or 6 weeks.
HTH!
