Summer reading program at the Public Library
For those of you that live in the 5 boroughs they are having a summer reading program in the library for children of all ages from infants and up. Adults can also participate. Depending on the age you read books to your DC or they read books themselves and then you log them on a special form or online. After you read the books the library gives the child a prize. I registered my almost 9 month old DS up today at the library. You can also register online. Here is the link: http://www.summerreading.org/
ETA: I just looked at the registration form and under branches it says outside of NYC so maybe you can do it if you are outside the 5 boroughs.

Re: Summer reading program at the New York Public Library
Thanks for the plug! This was one of my big projects when I worked there! You can log reviews online too, which really appealed to older kids!

We've been doing something similar with DC in Connetquot SD for a few years now. They are rally good programs. It encourages reading, and DC get either a prize, or a party.
