summer rental house? (w poll)
Sorry I messed up my post somehow ( could have something to do with the fact that i'm on my 3rd glass of wine )!
Where should we rent a house for a week this summer?
Lake George? FI? Jersey Shore? Other suggestions??
ETA: DD will be a year in May

to the third glass of wine, I'm jealous.
I'd recommend Montauk. My parents have a house and since DS was 4 weeks old we've been taking him. Kid friendly and laid back!

ya...me and DH are off all week. So DD is sleeping and he's playing guitar hero while I have computer time. We got ourselves some crab legs at Costco and a nice bottle of white. Gotta love the holidays ! Oh what was this post about again?! OH ya...summer ...see where my mind is at?! I would love never to have to work again!

I second Montauk. That said, we actually do one in OC Maryland every year instead but just because it's convenient for other family members. OC is good too (and I would think cheaper) but MUCH more commercial. We always did FI houses but I'm not in a hurry to do it with little kids because I think it would be difficult.

is it easy to find reasonably priced houses to rent for a week in the summer there?

Honestly, I'm not sure b/c my parents have one. But I'd think so. But I would start looking ASAP. I know that they actually did pretty well out there last year b/c people didn't want to travel far.
We also go for a week to Captiva, Florida in July with DH's family and I love it. Renting a house with a baby/toddler is the way to go. You can't beat going to breakfast in your PJs

Re: summer rental house? (w poll)
We stay in Montauk for a week every summer. DD will be a year in May also. I highly recommend it. We always stay at Royal Atlantic (2 story condo)whch is right on the beach and perfect for families. You can go on the beach and go up to the condo if needed. They book up fast and we book it a year in advance, but they do get cancellations so you may want to call if interested. I think your DD will love it and so will you. The town is right there also and you can walk into town.
ETA: 2 years ago DS was 10 months and we all had a great time. They also have a pool. If the condo's booked they have several other accommodations on the beach as well.

Cape Cod is a big drive but has very affordable homes.

We rented a house in Rehoboth Beach, DE last summer. We had a great time. The town is very family friendly and about 4 1/2 hours away. I highly recommend it.
