Sunroom with a lot of windows...window treatments

We have a "sunroom" - well it's more of an addition to the house that we use as our computer room. Strictly an indoor room..3 out of the 4 walls have windows. So that's 3 windows x 3 walls = 9 windows in a small room. Right now we have up white blinds which I despise and would love to let in more light but still have some privacy. If I had the $ I would love to do shutters on the bottom and let the light come in through the top. Here's a pic..any ideas? Three walls each have the same - the white (yuk) blinds and the valance at the top.

what about top-down botttom-up blinds. This would give you the option of opening them either way. I have them in my living room, on my bay window. I keep the middle one up from the bottom and the side ones down at the top.
I love how they look!

Also, maybe wood blinds. They have faux ones that are inexpensive. They will allow a lot, a little or no light.

hope this helps!

I have a sun room too that i will need to get window treatments for. I agree with the previous post about wood blinds. That is what we were thinking, but faux of course! My dad just got some for his porch at blinds.com. He was very please, but you install/measure yourself. GL!

Here's our sunroom. I wanted something simple and clean looking, so I just went with valances and plain old shades.

Oh I like that Rachel! I've looked into the faux wooden blinds -

for anyone who's done the faux wood blinds, do you know roughly how much it would be for 9 windows? I'm also looking at justblinds.com..

i like the faux wood blinds idea. if you have standard width windows you can probably get them for $20-30 each. I've bought some at HD and Lowes, but last year I bought some from jcpenney.com and they had better prices.

I agree with the natural woven blinds that Jess posted.

I really like these. Great idea! I think I might have to do this for my enclosed deck. I was looking for an idea, but didn't know what I wanted to do. This looks great. Thanks Jess! Chat Icon

I also want to add that we have very irregularly sized windows, or else we would have done the faux wood blinds.

Not to be a "nay sayer" but I had these in my sunroom and they looked really cheap Chat Icon We replaced them with wood blinds from Ikea and they were VERY inexpensive and look great. I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight.

I completly agree, they are cheap lookin gin real life, and they don't give you much privacy you can always see through them esp at night!

For a sunroom I actually would like that the shades let light through.

But if she needs shades for privacy reasons then you're right, they probably wouldn't be a good idea.

casey... what does your sunroom back up to?

I like the pic that was posted with roman shades. I think they are a nice clean look and since you have a lot of windows I think clean would be better. Not too much froofroo.

One side faces our back yard (we have a big yard but neighbors behind us), the other side faces my neighbor's house - our driveways are only 8 feet wide Chat Icon and the front side faces the street. So...no privacy! I really like the faux wood or the shutters...now, if I can only convince DH!

Re: Sunroom with a lot of windows...window treatments

This is what I did in my sunroom. I used drape shades. I don't need much privacy in that room, but you could always draw the drape shades down.
