super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
Ok so I have been looking at organization charts by day of house cleaning....
My house is a mess...if I know I am having people over it takes me sooooo long to clean. I know if I stay on top of it if someone popped over I wouldnt be stressed about making this place look clean LOL!
I have 2 boys 20 month and a 5 month a dog and a cat so vacuuming is a must!!
What is you schedule like on cleaning? There has to be some anal moms out there that has a set routine. I am a full time but off for the summer (teacher) I am home pretty early and DH helps out a lot around the house...
but i think it is time for a schedule I can put up on the fridge and give DH chores and myself to do. I feel like if we have a set schedule to stick by house cleaning won't be so crazy....
Any advice or sharing of your schedule would be AWESOME!
oh and hiring someone to come clean is not an option...wish it was maybe in a few year when DH gets his own business off the ground =)
TIA!

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
toys are the least of my problem LOL!! Even before I had kids I was SOOOO BAD at cleaning! I know if I give myself a schedule I know I can follow it. There were some good models online but I fig I would ask real people on here hahaha
I don't mind doing it when I come home from work....I just gotta figure out what and when! I want to be able to maintain the cleaness as opposed to doing an all day clean
CAN ANYONE HELP US?! (Now that i know I am not the only one LOL!)

I don't really have a schedule. I do my hard core cleaning on the weekends and spend at least a half hour every week day touching up one thing (ex one day vacuum, next day kitchen)

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
No set schedule, but I try to do one major thing each nap. (one of the bathrooms or kitchen, moldings and under furniture type cleanings)
I always clean as I go, i feel like I am always cleaning up after a meal! I do laundry every day bc i freak when it piles up.
I am BIG on multi tasking. I talk on the phone while I dust or fold laundry.
I clean toys at least once a week.
I set the dishwasher to run at night, so when boys are eating breakfast, I unload it.
I think when you do a little at a time, you don't get overwhelmed. I always say if I get one thing done each nap time, even if its just throwing food in a crockpot, that its good enough.

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
Im a teacher too. 1 DS and a cat. My house is always neat and clutter free.
You have to force yourself to put things away as soon as you are done. Do not make piles. Declutter. We do not have many things that are left out all the time on counters, tables ect.
Soon as I get up, I make the bed. I cleanup DS's messes through out the day so it doesn't pile up. I cook, I clean up as much as i can After dinner we clean up, wipe down, pledge table etc. I do laundry throughout the week We wipe down the bathroom a couple times a week (takes 1 min to spray Clorox cleanup in sink and on toilet and wipe) Same thing with furniture in living room
Encourage the boys to help you clean up. dS is 27 months and he helps pick up his toys. Sometimes i make him Do it before he dumps out something else.
Saturday is cleaning day (sometimes Sunday). Sometimes if I remember friday morning I will put our sheets in the washing machine and put in dryer when I get home. If not I do this Saturday first thing. I start early saturday (8/9ish) and work room to room. I do save bathrooms for when DS naps.
It stinks! I hate wasting a Saturday, but it's too hard to do other days. But it does help that my house is already neat and clutter free.
We did finally decide on getting a cleaning person though But I will still clean throughout the week

Invite someone over unexpectedly. I swear I get the most cleaning done in 30 minutes before someone comes over than I do all week.

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
No advise, just wanted to say that I am right there with you on this. My house is a mess. It doesn't help that I have four long haired pets, and DD is a super light sleeper who goes to bed early (so no vaccuuming when she is asleep).
I think the other part of my issue is that I don't want to give up my weekend to clean. I need a rainy weekend to help myself motivate to get cleaning!

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
we do have a cleaning person every 2 weeks but there is still TONS to do inbetween
i vacuum the entire house sat AM while DS is watching morning TV and eating breakfast.
i do laundry T/Th nights after work.
I food shop Sunday mornings with DS (early, like 7-8am before anything is crowded)
wipe down kitchen and bathrooms at the end of each night - takes literally 10 minutes if you do it each night.
vacuum lightly in the most traffic'd areas every 2-3 days.
(i dont really dust or wipe down applicances since we have cleaning people every 2 weeks).
try to do 1 task her night. have a routine!
ETA - DH takes care of garbage, recycling, his own laundry. I clean the playroom EVERY SINGLE night after DS goes to sleep.

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
I'm a FTWM and OCD about organization, so my schedule may seem a bit much but it keeps me sane.
I vaccuum everyday once I get home. We have dark hardwood floors, so any speck of dust or dirt shows and it irks me.
I wipe down the kitchen counters and the bathroom surfaces as well.
Every other day I dust everything and mop.
I make my bed as soon as I get up.
I change my sheets on Saturday morning.
I do a deep cleaning - meaning scrubbing the tub, sinks, vaccuuming under furniture, under sofa cushions etc on Friday night.
We put away toys that DS has no interest in. I buy big clear bins and clean/wash them and pack them away.
Every couple of months, I go through them and throw out anything that is broken, missing pieces, or are small tchotchke ones - like happy meal toys or favors from parties etc.
Doing this keeps his area clean and organized.
I sort and toss my mail as I get it. I keep NOTHING in a pile, unless it needs to be shredded.
I keep my counter tops clear and am super anal about returning things to where i got them.
I don't like piles of things - I just put them away. If I can pile them up I can put them away just as easily.
This is my argument with my DH who ALWAYS puts his shoes to the side of the bedroom closet in a corner. Umm, if you can put them in the corner on the outside of the closet, why can't you open the door and put them on the inside?
I put my laundry away once it is done. We don't leave dishes in the sink, they get washed as they are used. I hate dirty dishes in the sink.
I will say that this is my schedule - DH is the total opposite of me and could care less then to help me with any of this.
90% of our arguing is because of his laziness to help out with any of the chores. So kudos to you for getting your husband on board it will make keeping up even easier.

Re: super neat moms....house cleaning.....help need some tips..do you have a schedule?
This is helping me too, thanks!
I had so much anxiety this weekend bc our basement flooded (2 ft of water!) about a month ago, and we were told we have to hold on to EVERYTHING for the insurance adjuster, so my basement looks like it threw up all over my house LOL.
Besides that though, I cant keep it clean with working full time, and a husband who does help, but also takes one thing out at a time and never puts ANYTHING away... so there is literally a TRAIL for each day!!!!! I thought I was going to go crazy this weekend and kill him lol. I also struggle about do I pick up after him, fight, or leave it...hmmm
I was just thinking I NEED to have a schedule to help me, thank you for bringing this up!!!

i am the SAME. i could have pretty much written this- except in addition we have a cleaning person 2x a month...and i don't mop- i leave that to the cleaning people.
i HATE clutter and piled laundry. my only issue is mail - i recycle most mail immediately- except for coupons- i have a hard time keeping them organized - so my kitchen has a small pile...i need to figure out how to organize those

Coupons I am organized with. Check out krazycouponlady.com under beginner there is a great download for a coupon binder. You use baseball cards to organize them..even if you dont "extreme coupon" like the site it is a great way to see all your coupons and know when they expire I just wish I cleaned as well as I coupon!

This is me exactly. Some thing with the dishwasher and always cleaning as I go. We are always in the kitchen of great room, which is right off the kitchen (with a little hall in between) and I can see everything. I keep toys in there neatly piled for now and the majority in the basement. When they are oldr they will all go down to the basement. Right now they are 13 months and 3. Everyday I clean the kitchen, swiffer, and dusting. I really clean the downstairs a couple of times a week when the baby naps and my older will either be in school, playing nice, watching tv or having lunch. I vacuum upstairs a couple of times a week too. I think windex and paper towels are always in my hand. Lol
