Support Virginia Tech: Hokie Hope Day
This is part of an email I got from my FSIL's brother, who is a senior at Virginia Tech.
It is all very sad, but we are a "Hokie Nation" and will get through these difficult days. Friday is a "Hokie Hope" a national "Maroon & Orange Effect" day and while I know most think these colors are strange, I've bled these colors for the last four years and think any wardrobe should contain them. If you can, show us support by wearing anything you have with these colors. The dedicated VT alumni are trying to push this nationwide, so I am here to do my part as an almost alumnus.

If anyone can do it, it's virginia tech and the hokies. My husband was a hokie and graduated 4 years ago. it's an amazing school and there is nothing like it as far as school spirit!!
I'll be wearing my VT sweatshirt!!!

Since I do have friends down there, I will be supporting them! Tomorrow I will have my VT tshirt on & will wear my VT shorts when I get home!

Don't you remember my vows? How i said i'd never come between him and virginia tech football? 
I will say that my husband is so upset by what happened. Luckily he doesn't know anyone there anymore. But now this great school is not going to be remembered for their football or how good of a school it is... but remembered for this tragedy.

I just wanted to let you know that i told my little bro about this post....he's such a good kid, you know what he did?
He went to his high school principal, and suggested that Friday be "Maroon and Orange Effect" day...the Principal loved his idea, and made an announcement over the loudspeaker, hung signs, and got the word out that everyone should wear maroon and orange tomorrow.
I hope they take a photo

That's really sweet. Your parents must be great people to have raised such caring kids.

Yeah, tomorrow is VA's national day of mourning and the whole state is supposed to have a moment of silence at noon... I'll see how that works with my 5th graders
