Sushi

I need help with sushi. How do you know what to order?

My DH and I went out the other night for our anniversary to the Mill Pond House and we ordered their special. It was delicious. In it was a crunch spicy tuna roll and other things. I ordered on a whim. How do I know what to order?

I LOVED it and want to start eating it more often.

Re: Sushi

I usually just stick to crunchy spicy tuna rolls, Philadelphia rolls, and spider rolls. If there is something that strikes my interest on the menu, I *might* venture and try it, but I usually stick to my main staples. Chat Icon

Re: Sushi

Once you know what fish you like, then start trying rolls made of them. I like tuna the best and you can find so many rolls made different ways with it.

Eel is the most delicious thing ever. Really. Trust me. It's always cooked too, so it's not so scary.

(haven't eaten meat in 8 years, but I do still kinda miss eel rolls... no one believes me, but try it!)

Re: Sushi

another sushi addict here! if you liked the spicy tuna, try spicy salmon. salmon w/avocado is also good. i also like shrimp sushi (but NOT sweet shrimp - that one is raw.) oh, and white tuna is another good one IMO.

every sushi place also has 'special rolls.' definately check those out - they vary based on restaurant.

Re: Sushi

How do I know "how much" to order. It says a roll but how many pieces is in a roll? Sorry if I sound naive.

Rolls normally have 6 pieces, and the nigiri is 1 piece. I get california rolls, spicy california rolls, shrimp nagiri, and king crab nigiri, king crab and cucumber rolls, king crab rolls, and shrimp california rolls. I have tried the raw samon, raw tuna, raw ell, and spider rolls. I don't mind the taste, but the texture is just to weird for me
