Swaddling question
I have the Swaddle Me (is that it?) blanket and I have been using it from day 1. Basically, this was the only way to settle Katherine down to sleep. I use it for naps too. Anyhow, my question is this...is there a particular age when you really should stop doing this? I'm afraid to try it for fear she'll be up all night! For those that had swaddled in the past, how was the transition?

Re: Swaddling question
I was terrified about stopping swaddling! First she started to break out of the swaddle, so I started to experiment with leaving one arm out. Then one night she fussed and fussed until I took the swaddle off entirely (around 4 months). The transition was shockingly a non-event for us.
So, I'd expect that she'll let you know when she is ready.

Re: Swaddling question
They say that most babies don't want to be swaddled anymore after around 3 months or so, sometimes sooner. I used the swaddle me a few times but Jake really didn't need to be swaddled so he grew out of it quickly. I agree with Calla, she'll let you know when she's done with it.

Re: Swaddling question
We're still using it at 10 weeks and I no idea when I'll be able to stop. She busts out if we don't make it tight enough but she cannot be put to sleep without it. She is crazy with her hands and would never stay asleep.

Re: Swaddling question
We used the Miracle Blanket too. Really, don't worry about this one, it goes much easier than you are imagining!
The babies nervous systems and motor control mature quickly to the point that they don't startle themselves anymore.

Re: Swaddling question
I'm sooooooooooooo afraid of stopping the swaddling!!!! I've been using the Miracle Blanket since day 2 of Logan being home and he's been in it every single night!! There is no way he would ever sleep well at night without it. He is 3 months old and has been getting his legs out in 3 seconds for a while now. He is now sometimes able to get his arm(s) out. Luckily, he doesn't do this until morning so it isn't effecting his sleep at all. I hope the transition (when he's 6 yrs old of course ) goes well for us .
