Sweet Potato Fries - Need help
I made these tonight and it was so hard cutting the uncooked yams. Any tips on how to cut these things without them flying across the cutting board?
But the end result was really yummy. Cut up the sweet potatoes and mixed them with evoo, grill seasoning, salt and pepper and baked. Yum!

I have no trick, I just hold the things down and cut them length, then half, then more halves.

I just buy the cut canned ones and bake them until they get crunchy on the outside...

Re: Sweet Potato Fries - Need help
The only "trick" I know is to cut it in half first - so that you have a flat surface to work with - and go from there.
Another way would be to par boil them first for about 10 minutes. They're a little softer then.
I love tossing sweet potato's with EVOO and some hot sauce and then bake them. Yumma.

I think a mandoline slicer would help you.

Never thought of this. It sounds like a Great alternative to frying.

Re: Sweet Potato Fries - Need help
i clean the potato and then put in plastic wrap and microwave for a couple of minutes first to make them soft-take them out & let them cool off&then cut into fries put on a baking tin sprayed w/cooking spray & drizzle w/EVOO and S&P let them brown. This speeds up the cooking time by 1/2!

Me either. They do not fall apart? How long do they need to bake for?

yes! and DH showed me that if you slide the potato across once, then turn the potato 90 degrees before the next slide, you get the potato chips that have a lattice pattern!
