Swing and Bouncer?

Did everyone register for a swing and bouncer. My Dh thinks its a waste, he insisted on registering for a bouncer with a lot of different features and says we don't need the swing. Ughh, is it a must?

I personally think the swing is a must - Some babies don't like, but mine LOVED it.

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

I think you should have both, but if you need to pick one, get the bouncer seat.

We bring ours with us a lot so when we go out to frinds houses, etc. she always has a place to sit.

The swing is good too, although she used it more when she was smaller.

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

I did get both but right now my DD HATES her swing. I registered for a fulkl sized one and a travel one and I feel like it was a waste. DD is only 7.5 weeks old though...maybe she will learn to like it.Chat Icon

BOTH! They are both great!! When I shower and DD is awake she goes in the bathroom doorway in the bouncer. The swing will come in handy when nothing else soothes the baby!!

I registered for both (plus a travel swing)

Soooo many of my friends/co-workers that are mommies tell me they are both a must. I'm sure not every child is going to like them, but I'm willing to try anything that may make my life a little easier. Chat Icon

I think you need both. DS loves both and will only fall asleep in his swing during the day. And he only will sleep in his bouncer at nightChat Icon

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

I used the bouncey seat more than the swing. DD hated the swing - but every child is different. I will try them both again with #2 - its always good to have.

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

My DD loved her swing! She used to sleep in it at night sometimes because she wouldn't sleep anywhere else. I never had a bouncy seat.

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

My daughter probably spent equal time in both the swing and bouncer although she slept for the first few weeks in the bouncer...but we continued to use the swing after that.

IMO both are EXTREMELY necessary. The bouncer is great because in the beginning when you sometime have no time for anything, you can put the baby in the bouncer and put him/her in the bathroom doorway while you shower.

Also the swing is a necessity because when the baby is fighting sleep sometimes the swing is the only place he will slee!

I would recommend getting both -- and if you're worried about having so many big things get the travel swing -- it works great and folds up and you can just tuck it under the crib, a bed, or in the closet when you aren't using it!

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

It might good to get both- it is easier sometimes to have a few options of things to put the baby in. They get bored with one thing- also- you don't know what the baby will like- and if you don't get both- then that's okay tooChat Icon

Re: Swing and Bouncer?

I have both and I'm glad I do. DD has been in the swing since she was 5 days old, and she loves it! I have the one that turns to swing side to side instead of front to back and it has a mirror and mobile above her head. She was never really crazy about the bouncy, I think because she was bored in it. I do use it though sometimes when we are eating dinner, because I can just put it up on the table so she can be entertained by us! Chat Icon I eventually went out and got some more stimulating toys for her to look at while in the bouncy and now she is a little better in it, but still not great. They do sell a bouncy that has a mirror and a mobile over the baby, and I think I will get that for baby #2.
