swing ? for btdt moms
i registered at bru yesterday and originally registered for the papasan - then i read on here that some people didn't like that it didn't grow with the baby, but I can't find any info on it's age/weight limitations. While i was online i saw the fisherprice rainforest swing and the acquarium swing. i like the look of the acquarium swing more but the rainforest comes with a dc power outlet and that seems like a plus..
so i am asking the experienced mommies - what do u think, function over fashion re:fp or stick with papasan even though unsure how long baby will use swing...

Re: swing ? for btdt moms
we have the rainforest swing and would not recommend it... the first one that we had, the music and mobile stopped working... the store did exchange it even without a box but the one that we have now it seems that is pretty slow... my son is not even 11 lbs yet and the swinging motion is very slow, at least thats what I think...

Re: swing ? for btdt moms
I have a standard Graco swing. It works fine. It isn't used too often so the battery life hasn't been an issue. DD had a similar one 6 years ago. I never changed the batteries in a year of use...and she was in it a lot.
That's my actual experience with these swings.
I've heard from several girls on here that the one with the DC power source is great b/c you don't have to rely on batteries. Something to consider, I didn't know it existed until after my shower (plus, turns out I barely use my swing).
As for the papsan styles, I could see those becoming too small for some babies, especially since many of the babies on this site are over 8 pounds at birth.
I'm no expert, I'm just giving my experiences, word of mouth and observation.

I have seen other people post about this - but for a different perspective -
We have the rainforest swing - and have had no problems with it - we use it all the time plugged into the wall - did not put in batteries so I am not sure how it would work with batteries over the plug in.
My DD was 11 lbs at her ped visit on Friday - we have no problems with it - it swings just fine for her and she just started for the first time sleeping in it. Maybe we were just lucky with the one we received.

I would wait as long as possible to open the box or see if you can borrow one first to see if DC likes it.
Both my DD's HATE(d) the swing and so does my niece.

HATE my rainforest swing. I plug it into the wall, and it just never went. Took up too much space, way too much money.

Re: swing ? for btdt moms
I had the FP aquarium one and then found the FP aquarium travel one for 1/2 the price. I liked that one better. It folded up easily and stored great. It was lower to the ground than the other but I got more use out of it. It was easy to bring from room to room.

I have had no problems with it either and DS was also 11lbs at his first peds visit.

Re: swing ? for btdt moms
We loved our papasan swing and I'd recommend it to anyone. I not only loved the way it worked and soothed DD I also love that it's subtle and didn't clash with my living room and yell out BIG BABY TOY HERE! But that's just me. I wasn't wild about any of the aquarium stuff for that reason. And DD used it until she was like 9 mos old so I don't know why people would say it doesn't grow with the child. What does that mean? I don't many people that got longer than that out of their swing no matter what kind it was.
