swings.... how old was dc?
how old was dc when you first used the swing? I presume they must be able to support their heads somewhat...

really? ds's head was too floppy to even sit in our papasan a few weeks ago (his chin was pressed against his chest)

Did you recline it all the way back? It was like a nest in the beginning if I can recall with a little neck supporter around her head.

You can use the swing from birth on, just put it on the lowest setting and put a blanket on DC to weigh it down a little.
I don't understand what you mean by his head being "floppy"? He doesn't need to sit up

my ds was in the hospital for 6 weeks after birth. they used the swing for him starting at around 2 weeks old in the 2nd hospital and almost non stop in the 3rd hospital. when he would cry all night, and the nurses were busy, they would move him down to the nurses station in a swing. quieted him down every time. if they use it there, i think its fine at home at hte same time.

The Papasan has 2 seat settings. One is on an angle (which it sounds like is the one you are using), and the other is essentially parallel to the floor (no angle). Change the setting and your DS should be fine!

we have a papasan and DS has used it from the first day home from the hospital. we've used it every day since then--it's a godsend

We have put Emerson in the swing a few times (she's 6 1/2 weeks old) but so far she HATES it! I think she is too little still and the movement scares her a little. Maybe in a few more weeks she will enjoy it.

thanks everyone.... I just tried it again, and he was quiet for about 5 min and then cried. I think he was hungry, though...
I have to look into the seat settings. I'm still learning to use this thing
