Switching from Neocate/Elecare to soy milk (long, sorry)
Did anyone's dc test negative for a soy allergy and then still react?
When Andy was tested for food allergies, he was diagnosed as severe to milk and milk proteins, but not to anything else that results in his symptoms - including soy. We recently switched him to soy milk from Neocate. Our insurance was still covering it so the ped said it was fine, just to wean him off my 2 years old. We are using Silk plain soy milk which does not have any milk ingredients in the list.
He has a bad diaper rash and the eczema on his face is really bad again. But he's also got a bad cold & cough, runny nose, so it's hard to tell if it's from being sick or from the soy. DH wants to put him back on Neocate, I want him to stay off it.
Thanks.

I didn't have an issue with soy other than she refuses to drink it.
I would go back on the Neocate just temporarily to see if it clears. Once it clears and your DS is better, I would try again. At least that way you know if it's the soy or he's sick.

I'm just nervous b/c when he first when on Neocate he couldn't poop for a month regardless of what we tried to get him going and finally the doctor had to get it out manually. It was horribly painful for him and I'm scared it will happen again.

We switched from Neocate to soymilk at 10 1/2 months and have had no problems with any soy products, my DS is now 21 months and still allergic to milk proteins. I hope you find out the cause soon

If that happens, now that he's older you can give him MiraLAX. It's a colorless, odorless, tasteless powder laxative that you mix with water. I give DD 2 tsps in 1 oz of water every day. Since she came off the formula she's constipated. Of course check with your ped, but I know a few mommy's who need to use it because milk binds them. You only need to use it until he "adjusts" back to the Neocate.
