Switching from RTF to powder formula
Just wondering if anyone has done this and if their baby had any issues with it. DD is 7 months and I'm thinking about it out of convenience while out, etc.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
I tried to switch, but my son was insatiable with the powder... A lot of my friends use it though with no problem.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
Both my kids used the RTF and when I tried the switch both refused. The taste is NOT the same and it is much thinner. RTF was more convent on the go because all I brought with me was an 8oz RTF bottle and a nipple.
Also my kids drank cold formula, so i didn't worry about heating it up and the switch to milk.
Try it and see, some kids like it, some won't.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
I used RTF with DS1, and tried to switch, and I just didn't like the concept of it. I wouldn't drink powdered milk, so I felt funny giving it to DS. It was very thin in comparison to the RTF. Most of my friends do use the powder, and had no problems at all. Some even said the RTF caused more gas. I think it depends on the baby.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
DS is 5 months this week, and I use powder, RTF and breast milk interchangeably. He doesn't show any signs of preference.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
Thanks everyone. Unfortunately DD won't drink cold bottles so when we are out it's a PIA to heat it up ( to room temp). Also when she screams at 4 am or so for a bottle (she's killing me) I hate letting her scream while I go to heat up a bottle. She always wakes up my 3 year old and then he's cranky! Just looking for an option to make life a bit easier. I used to use an 8 oz. rtf at these times but now she is on Alimentum. Maybe I'll speak to my pediatrician and see if she has some sample powder.

Re: Switching from RTF to powder formula
I actually went from powder to RTF because my daughter kept on spitting it out and getting very gassy. Once I made the switch, she is so much eager to eat and not gassy at all anymore.
