Swollen Ankle/Foot?
Hi guys - I have a question - my left ankle and foot are really swollen - like twice the size of my right one. I was in a car for a long time yesterday and first thought maybe it had something to do with that (sitting down for so long) but it's only the left foot - that's what's making me go
It doesn't hurt - aches a little and the skin feels really tight (like I can feel it swelling).
Any ideas on what this could be or what I should do?
Thanks!

Have you eaten a lot of salty things lately? My left ankle blows up if I eat too much sushi & soy sauce...

Re: Swollen Ankle/Foot?
did you twist your ankle or foot? I know when I were flip flops sometimes I lose my footing and my foot turns. It also very hot so maybe you are just swelling up

Re: Swollen Ankle/Foot?
Got a bunch of mosquito bites this weekend - we were upstate - it's possible that it was a spider bite - but don't notice any bites. Ate salty stuff this weekend, but this has never happened with salty stuff before. Do I just ice it and elevate and leave for a few days? Do you think I can work out on it at the gym?

I would out ice on it. to reduce the swelling. I would NOT work out on it though.

Re: Swollen Ankle/Foot?
I would definately ice it -- and I do have to say that I have past injuries in one ankle and this heat really brings out the swelling.
On top of ice I would drink LOTS and lots of water and elevate it if possible. Plus make sure you continue to stretch it out.

Re: Swollen Ankle/Foot?
i just read your post...
being that you were seated for a lonf time... and i'm not sure what you mean by long... but it cloud be a DVT (deep venous thrombosis)...
I don't mean to scare you... but it can be serious! FYI... women on birth controll are at a higher risk... (don't know if you fall into that catorgory)... I would be concerned if its painless swelling, that doesn't itch, burn, its not red etc... and you dont see and obvious insect stings / bites etc...
if you develop shortness of breath or chest pain... go to the ER!
sorry to intrude! just trying to help!
