Taking a 15-18 month old to a major sporting event? experience? Advice?
we have a package of tix for the Braves (EW.....) and DH fave team is coming to town several times.....
DD would be free.....BUT she's not one to remain "cooped up" in the stroller or to sit on a lap for a long time...she's ALWAYS on the go.
how hard is it to take a toddler to a game?

We just took my dd to an Islander game, and she was fine the first and second period, but by the third I was walking around with her.. She was exhausted, it was past her bedtime.. I had brought snacks, sippy and her bottle. She was so busy watching all the action, she didn't bother w/ any toys.. Good Luck!!

I doubt they would even let you take a stoller in. If they did, you probably couldn't take it to your seats anyway. We took my son to a few baseball games and he was great. It was a long game though, but he sat and watched, and had plenty of snacks.

I would NEVER! DH wants to bring Julia to a Mets game (she will be 2 soon), and I said NO WAY! She would never sit still, and we wouldn't be able to enjoy ourselves. I would wait till shes much older.

I think it really depends on your child's personality. We took Jack to a Cubs game when he was about 18 months and he was so scared by the loud croud and was way too overstimulated. I spent the entire game in a quiet corner rocking him in the stroller. Never again until he is about 5.

I don't know if I'd chance it. Miranda is not one to sit still, especially if it isn't something that won't hold her interest for a long time. I wanted to take her to Sesame Street Live and DH wants to wait one more year because he still doesn't think she's old enough to sit through an entire event. Good luck!

Re: Taking a 15-18 month old to a major sporting event? experience? Advice?
We have taken our DC to Yankee games since they were a few months old (5 and 2 now). We used the backpack when they were up to 18 months. We brought lots of snacks, portable DVD player with Sesame Street DVDs and some little "surprise" toys that they either hadn't seen before of hadn't seen in a while. We generally plan to get to the game in the second inning, and leave in the eighth. Both of my kids are VERY active (DS has ADHD and was diagnosed at 2 years old), but they were able to handle it. Also, one of us (usually me) had to be willing to get up and walk with them, missing part of the game, if necessary.
I took my now 5 year old DS to Opening Day at Yankee Stadium this week, and he was GREAT!

We took Jack to a day game to see the Yankees at 21 mos. He looked out at the field and yelled BayyyBalll, BayBall BayBall (think we got a fan ). He did well for a few innings, I walked him around a bit, he went from lap to lap , loved cheering then fell fast asleep in his stroller . No problem at all.

Re: Taking a 15-18 month old to a major sporting event? experience? Advice?
It really all depends on her personality. Honestly, I know my daughter and there's no way I could bring her to a major sporting event. She won't sit in her stroller for more than a minute, and won't sit in my lap for more than 20 seconds. I'd end up chasing her down the whole time, and being worried that I'd lose her.
BUT, if Alyson is more engaged by things, so to speak, and can sit and watch things, and be entertained, then go for it!!

I agree with others that it depends on her personality. I know DS would NEVER sit still and going to something like that would be a nightmare for us.
