Taking a newborn out?
DS is 2 wks old and I'm already having cabin fever!!! If I bundle him up can I take him for walks (around the block, to the supermarket, etc) or do you think he is still too young?

Re: Taking a newborn out?
you can def go for a walk but I would wait a bit longer before you take him to stores. My son is 8 weeks and I just got the ok from ped to go places- but still try to stay away from places you know someone is sick

Re: Taking a newborn out?
We took DS to the stores during the day when he was 3 weeks old. We always left him in his stroller so people weren't in his face. Pedi said he wasn't allowed around any school age children until 8 weeks old. I was on bed rest after I had him and I couldn't wait to get out for a while. I kept a light weight blanket over his stroller most of the time. DS never got sick from going to the stores. I didn't take him to the mall right away. He has only been there 2 times since he was born. He is now 11 weeks old.

Re: Taking a newborn out?
Personally i would not take him to public places this early. Ofcourse this is my opinion and you will def hear that some ladies did and they had no issues. I just dont think its worth the risk.
As for walks, i wouldnt take DS for walk unless its in 40s+

Re: Taking a newborn out?
DO what you want to do. Everyone is going to have their own opinion. My DS hasn't gotten sick from going out. The pedi said getting fresh air is good for him. After the big snow storm before xmas, he asked if we took him out. We said yes. He said great....We stayed in when the weather was really cold. Unless I HAD to go out...

Re: Taking a newborn out?
my son is 4 weeks, and we went to target this week..kept the blanket over the car seat, no one even saw him.
i wasn't sure i even thought it was ok..until i realized that going to the dr. is more of a risk, but we did that twice now..
just do what ypu are comfy with, and it will be the right thing!
