Taking Charge of Your Fertility
I have no patience, and there is NO WAY I am bringing this on the subway... While it seems like an easy read so far, are there certain chapters/sections I should focus on??

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
First of all I agree-do not take it on the subway. Plus some of the pictures area little graphic- It definitely is an easy read. I (despite being a teacher) do not enjoy reading . However, I really enjoyed the book and found it so informative. There were a few parts that I kinda skimmed over. HTH

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
it's pretty easy to get through the book since you can ignore all the parts about using the method for contraceptive purposes.
i found the most useful points to be about temping and about checking cervical mucous. i didn't bother with the actual cervix checking.
overall, i found it useful to do the temping/mucous checking until i was familiar with my cycle. but as the months passed, i slowly bagged everything. ironically, the month i actually got pregnant i did nothing except BD every other day from about CD 10-18.

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
I used it only when I was told to temp and chart. I found it of no use before then. Once I started to temp as per doctors instructions, it helped somewhat.

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
The info about CM and charting is useful in the beginning. The info on how to analyze temps will be helpful after you've charted a couple of cycles and can see your patterns. Her book is what led me to realize I had a progesterone deficiency(low temps after o)

I actually am finding it incredibly fascinating, AND infuriating!
It's just more proof that we live in a man's world-- and also, if you have a problem, and you are not "text book", then there is nothing wrong with you. Just indicative of our healthcare system...

Oh Randi, don't even get me started Another GREAT book(hopefully you won't need it although I think it would be useful for ANYONE TTC) is The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis-it is alll about diet, herbs and traditional Chinese medicine.

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
I finished the book in 3 nights just reading in bed. It is a very easy read, and you can finish quickly. However, I wouldn't recommend reading just certain chapters. It is very informative, I would read the whole thing to understand everything .

You know, sometimes you just want to get on the rooftops and scream until you feel like you can make a difference, or just make people aware that they don't have to accept the bill of goods that is being sold to them. It's just so unbelievable to me that even doctors today subscribe to such archaic ways of thinking.
I have not had these issues with TTC since we are really just getting started, but have had this happen with other medical issues... until I SELF DIAGNOSED myself. It's true, that WHATEVER your problems are, you know your body best and you HAVE TO question authority.
When the time comes, I plan on getting a lot of books re: diet since I will need to plan my meals very carefully as I am a veggie. Do these books discuss diet in terms of fertility??

Re: Taking Charge of Your Fertility
I learned alot from this book. I read it in one day without paying much attention to the chapters on birth control and menopause.
