Taking down plaster walls
The house we bought has all plaster walls so the fist thing we plan on doing is taking all the walls down and sheetrocking. We plan to do 3 bedrooms, living room, and dining room, and den? Anyone know how much this may cost?

Re: Taking down plaster walls
Are you doing it yourself? If you are, it should cost that much money - just supplies. If you are having someone do it, sheetrockers and spackle guys can be expensive.

Re: Taking down plaster walls
I have demolished many plaster walls and it is a mess. This is Peabody's husband of course! There is plaster pushed into metal wire which is nailed onto the studs. It is a horrible and messy job. I assume the house is old if it is all plaster lathe so expect the studs to be varying in width. This is usually the case so we sister up new studs of a larger width on each old stud so new sheetrock walls are straight. Good luck

Re: Taking down plaster walls
we did this in our kicthen & diningroom, they had 7 layers of wall paper!!!
it was very messy but i think rather easy to take down the sheetrock. DH and my BIL put up the new.. if you have the right tools.... it went okay. we had to re-do a few things which i thought wasnt that bad for 1st timers...
we have are having someone come next week to begin tape & spackling he did my aunts hsuoe and looks fabulous!! plus he has great prices!!!!
